Ok guys i had the OEM radio in my 98 GST Spyder and I just installed the new head unit. I bought the wiring harness to go from the stock harness to the Pioneer head unit's harness. After wiring everything up (making sure all the green, purple, white, and gray wires were connected correctly of course) i turned on the radio to find that only my rear passenger speaker will play any sound, the others have no sound coming out of them. Ive been going crazy trying to figure it out....the speakers worked before I put in the new head unit but Ive installed head units a ton of times and NEVER had this problem....any suggestions will be much appreciated...thanks!

are you sure you wired it correctly. Driver front speaker White/Blue (+)
Black/Blue (-) Color for dash speakers - driv and pass and door speakers are: (+) Black/White, (-) Black
Pass front speaker White/Red (+)
Black/Red (-)
Driver Rear speaker Yellow/Blue (+)
Gray/Blue (-)
Pass Rear speaker Yellow/Red (+)
Gray/Red (-)

I bought an adapter that plugs into my stock harness and than wired that into the harness that cAme with the new pioneer head unit, the wiring diagram for the head unit and the new adapter match when it comes to the colors for the speakers so I hooked them all up accordingly and still only the rear passenger side speaker works. I am so lost and really need some advice...I don't know what else do to or what I could be doing wrong...please help guys

I was messing with the balance and fader and still nothing...I'm still only getting sound out of the one speaker...this is crazy I can't figure it out

Try disconnecting the wires that go to the stock amplifier thats underneath the passenger seat. My amp wasn't even in the car when I got it and it had a aftermarket headunit and all the speakers worked.

I had this problem in my 1990 300zx I had before my dsm. I ended up having to hardwire in all new speakers. I just took speaker wire and ran the directly through the leads on the wire-in harness, under the carpet and to the speaker. If all else fails, that's an option that worked for me.

Ok guys, first of all. AS SOON AS THE FACTORY DECK IS REMOVED, the factory amp is no longer active/working/in use/etc. The 6-pin din cable that runs from the stock amp to the stock deck--think of this as the rca outputs from the deck and input signal to the stock amp, also the remote turn on is in here. This is fact because if you get a Mitah, it consist of just that to connect to the aftermarket deck--which is 2 pairs of rcas and the blue remote turn on wire.

TurboDreamzGST seems to know what he was doing and he got a wiring harness which is simple color matching which he mentioned he did.

That won't do much, the amp is not remotely turn on at this point, and the wires in this harness are speaker outputs. Our cars have the speakers all wired parallel, for those without the infinity system and those with. And this is a give in on why you can wire behind the deck and have sound, but only can be wired under the passenger seat harness to get to the dash speakers.

Based on all of this, if you double/triple checked that your wiring is fine.. then it could mean 2 things IMO..

1) faulty deck (make sure harness is pushed in all the way in the deck, no pins are f-d up etc.
2) previous owner had tweaked the other wiring that connects from behind the stereo (where you are wiring it up now) because if the stock deck/amp setup works, it pin points to the wiring behind the stereo.

Sorry to jack the thread somewhat but i wanted to ask if the mitah adapter would do any good in my car ?
I am running aftermarket pioneer speakers with no stock amp at all, and what are the pros of getting the mitah adapter for mine ? Will the speakers sound better ?

Well first of all you don't have the stock amp, so getting the MITAH adapter would be useless.

And even if you did, if you have an aftermarket deck, that will provide more/cleaner power, than the stock amp.

Having the stock amp in place just gives you a false idea that it sounds better because then the dash speakers are working.

For a much better comparison, get components (because this would include tweeters you would put int he dash, and the xovers that will transfer the correct frequencies to the midbass or the tweets.. this resembling the setup with stock amp where the xovers are built into it thus why only then the dash speakers are working) powered by an aftermarket deck, then use the stock amp. Then you'll see. I swear I said this to you in PMs.

If you already have an aftermarket deck, get components up front that come with xover and tweeters. Just having those 2/3way coaxs suck with the soundfield in our car.

Perfect. Thanks again redturbo.
