new head replacement

my timing belt broke off when i was driving and the engine itself had 106,000 miles. so we got another head gasket with all the fillers, water pump and new belts and oil changed. but my mechanic got a used head gasket(warranty only covered used head) and cleaned it off and put the used head(and said it was good) into my car except he used the lifters and the cams from the broken headgasket into my "new" one because it was less worn then the used headgasket. the car runs fine now

my question is will i see any problems later on this and does it seem the head was older then what it really was? how do i make sure this lasts for a long time or should i get a new car

correct me if im wrong, but did the mechanic use a USED head gasket? or a used head?
i hope he didnt use a used headgasket.

Reword that whole post. You claim he got a used head, and a used headgasket... I'm assuming a new HG and used head? And he put some of the parts from your old(original) head into the new(used)one?

As long as he checked over the parts and they are good you shouldn't see a problem. These heads seem fairly stout. I don't recall ever really hearing about internal components wearing out, except for the valve seals.
