2G New guy who wants to buy his first project car

I have always wanted to buy a project car and I have come to the point in my life where I’m ready to get hands deep in something. I have worked on older carbureted cars before like Camaros and Chevelles with my dad when I was a kid but now I want to start something with my children and I have always wanted a 2g eclipse since I was a kid. I just started looking into them and I feel like it’s the right car to tinker with as they seem to be relatively easy to work on and don’t break the bank to bad. If anyone out there in the greater NYC area has a 2g GSX that needs some work I’m interested in buying. (Yeah I feel like I should get in line but I wanted to have something that I would hold onto for a long time). Or if there is anyone in the NJ area that has a stock 2g GSX that isn’t selling but I could stare at and reference it would be appreciated as my goal is to bring a heavily modified one back to stock and I need a template to refer to. (I have a thing for OEM and factory)

These cars are becoming rare and high value quickly as I predicted they would a few years ago, you might have a long wait to find anything that fits your budget and thats not beyond repair.

Yeah I hope to learn more about them through this forum and get more comfortable with expanding my budget.

I would watch the long Island, NY craigslist - Feb last year there were a couple of GSX's that were listed there. Be ready to pay though, you probably won't find one for under 6k - getting closer to 7 these days....
