new flywheel wearing funny??

Well, Ive had a ACT PP laying around for some time and Im not exactly sure if its a 2100 or 2600 because it is literally beat to shit on the outside, from a starter cog/gear rattling inside of the Bell housing for probably a good 1000 miles from my old car. What im wondering, Is why after installing my brand new ACT Xact lightweight flywheel did I start to have very weird clutch chatter? If I were idling and slowly let out the clutch, my whole engine would shake/rattle like it was going to break off the MM's. Anyway, I pulled the tranny and have some pics..

My street disk still looks great and is the same thickenss all the way around, But what are the burns on the PP face and flywheel...

and way are the burns only 3/4 around the flywheel..Ive been driving around for a good 600 miles.

Was i supposed to measure step height before I installed this flywheel??

I think you need a new PP. It looks like it's not putting equal pressure to the entire surface of the disk anymore. Since you scorched only part of the new flywheel, you really should have it checked for runout /warp and while at it make sure the step height is correct too since you didn't before.

This is a good example of why you should avoid reusing old clutch parts. You can get away with it if you use a complete clutch / flywheel /disk setup that were already on, but when you introduce a new friction surface into it, you'll often have big issues due to the wear already on the other surfaces.
 
looks like the PP was not torqued properly to the flywheel, causing unequall clamp force.

also looks like you have been slipping the clutch alot to over heat the PP in that manner.

He hit it on the head right here. FYI PP's can be warped just bolting them down or removing them incorrectly.
 
Well, that may be it then, thanks guys. This was a Pressure Plate from the previous owner, I have no idea how he installed it on the car before I had owned it, and how he drove the car. All I know is that when I re-installed the new flywheel, I torqued it to 100 ft/lbs with red loc-tite. I also installed the Pressure Plate with 12-15 ft/lbs as ACT's paper stated. I made sure it was sitting flush. I do not slip the clutch drastically unless at the track so I cant see that being my fault, most likely the Prev. owner.

I guess I can say I just need a new Pressure plate then right?? When I do get my new Pressure plate, before I install everything, should I have the flywheel turned??? Or just check the step height and if in spec, install??

What should i do? Thanks

Edit. The Pressure Plate is an Act MB-010x....Whats that???
