I hated the factory 2g steering wheel, but didn't want to ditch my airbag. The evo 8 wheel is obviously a good option, but I still wasn't too crazy about the way it feels. So, I took an evo 8 wheel, but modified it a bit...

Came out pretty nice. Still needs a bit of work though. I was able to retain the cruise control too, which is good.

So can you see your speedo and tach just fine or is the wheel in the way?

I can see the speedo and the tach just fine. The evo wheel is actually nearly identical in diameter to the stock 2g wheel...it just looks much smaller due to the design.

What did you use to redo the wheel?

I actually just spray painted the metal. For the perforated leather and white stitching, I took it to a local upholstery shop.

You have to cut/weld the hub from a 1g steering wheel. There's a whole write up on how to do it in this forum if you search for evo 8 wheel in a 2g.
