Hey guys, i purchased a 96 gsx, well come to find out it runs like a champ. But there are copper shavings in the oil. :( not cool

I never have tore down a car engine before but I figured this would be the one to do. Plans are to tear it down, put everything back together. See if it runs still. Then tear it back apart. I plan to purchase FP Black turbo while its on sale. However I would like to find a good deal on some pistons/rods or a short block all together.

Very disapointed this happened out of the blue:( but at least thats a good excuse for a built engine.

The tear down is isn't bad at all just keep everything organized, what are the goals for the car many vendors can help here with the parts youll need. You can run some npr pistons and rings and your choice for bearings I use the clevites for my goals they are a great bearing for rods and mains, Do some research and check everything when you decide to rebuid it, bearing clearances and piston ring gap, etc. If your going with a forged setup manley rods and pistons are a great choice going to get some, when I do my next build with my spare block.

thanks man! good stuff!!
I would prob go forged stuff in the future. right now i have a hx35 bolt on setup. I may be sticking with a stock setup for the time being just to have it running.
Im considering cleaning up my old block and building it slowly as funds allow though.

My friend has a stock bottom end and a hx40 on a fp manifold, speed density and 3 e85 making 410hp. But forged is the way to go for more than that, with the boost around 25 to 30 psi, its a blast.

ah, i have a fp manifold also and speed density. LOL. I am running pump gas of course. Have a brand new methanol kit but im not going to run it:/

I want to run it; but with the chances of failure I can't afford another engine. It's a brand new Aquamist with like a 7 gallon tank in the trunk haha
