i have a 96 eagle talon tsi fwd 5spd and i my ecu is bad so i got a 97 gsx ecu and the capacitors are bad. so i just decided to get a socketed ecu from ebay.heres a link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...d=1,1&item=8020808138&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT. the item description says it is FOR ANY 1995-1999 ECLIPSE TURBO. do i need any modification to get this to run like the stock ecu or can i just plug it in and run my car.the 97 gsx ecu i have on the car right now allows my car to run for a short while but it is a rough ride.could this be because of the ecu having bad capacitors or is it my engine. before my stock ecu died the engine was running fine.so please let me know what u think

97-99 ECUs fire the coils reverse of the 95-96. You will need to swap your plug wires in order for it to start.

Swap Plugs 1 and 4 with 2 and 3, the order doesn't matter because both 1/4 and 2/3 fire at the same time.

And you need to swap your CAS around 180 degrees.

where is the cas located at and is it easy to turn around?thanks

On the 95-96, the cas was located behind the intake cam gear on the driver side. On 90-94 and 97-99, the cas was located on the pass side of the intake cam. Your car has one, just not in plain view.

Yeah I did. He asked this question a while ago, and I was looking up the answer for him, when I found he had posted another thread w/ the same question and you had responded, so I just copy pasted to this thread.

Props to you! (I would give you pts but I just gave you some today)

Woops. Yep thats right, don't change your current firing order or CAS position.

95 and 96 are exactly the same. Nothing changes at all untill you use 97 or newer ecu.

thanks for everyones help.i'll let you know how it goes when i get my ecu.should arrive on wed or thurs.sooner the better.thanks again

the 95-96 model has a different type of CAS. If you swap for a 97-99 year ecu you have to either get a 96 CAS or have to get a program like dsmlink that allows you to let the ecu invert the signal. also the firing order is different between the 2 years.
