So I just got my car back from the shop. My old ACT 2100 had the spring pop out killing my old pressure plate and flywheel.
I got a new OEM clutch and flywheel for now until I can afford to start modding again. The shop I took it too does a lot of turbo cars mainly VW and Volvo. They are fully certified with pretty much anything you can imagine and the guy who worked on my car used to do DSMs.
Plus lets face it, following All Data how hard can it be to replace a clutch on our car with factory parts?
Heres my question. I've seen a lot of videos online about new clutches and flywheels scrapping when brand new then going away after break in miles on other turbo cars. Is this something that is in fact normal or did they mess up the install?
This ended up being that my ball joints kind of poped out a bit and were causing the rotors to be scrapped.
I've honestly never heard of it happening but the suspension tech said it is rare but does happen after the car has been on a lift for extended periods of time.
The longest I've ever had one of my cars on a lift was like a day.
But from what I've found a few of the large clutch manufacturers all claim scrapping at first is normal.
