new clutch...act 2100 or 2600, couple q's

my stock clutch went as expected. my buddy gave me a act 2600 pressure plate. i am having the plate inspected to make sure it is ok. here are my q's
1. will the 2600 put to much strain causing dmg on a stock 7 bolt?
2. will my flywheel need to be resurfaced?
3. are there any other parts i will need to due the clutch besides: clutch disc, pressure plate, OEM throw out bearing?

No, the 2600# ACT has been used for years without issues on 7-bolts. Yes there has been talk of it hastening Crankwalk, but plenty CW happenes just as frequently on auto-trans DSMs so don't worry. You may want to disconnect the clutch-in-to-start swich for good measure as there is no oil pressure at startup and this may help the thrust bearing.

Yes , unless it is currently STEPPED correctly.
3. are there any other parts i will need to due the clutch besides: clutch disc, pressure plate, OEM throw out bearing?
I'd go with the ACT street disc and a Mitsubishi TOB.

Optional: replace the stock rubber clutch line with an SS line to improve performance and change out the clutch fluid (should be replaced every few years anyway) :dsm:
 
Can't go wrong there with your current setup. I ran the 2100# for three years (9K miles) with my 16G (several track visits) and when I removed it had 80% material left on the disk.

Even sold it for $250 when I got the 2600# :D :dsm:
 
I have been running the 2100# ACT setup for about 6k miles now, w/ the current mods of my car, w/ monthly track use, and it is still in very good shape. Besides a new TOB, I'm going to reuse it.

Like John has said, just to back him up, the 2600# ACT PP has been used on many 7 bolts for many years now. The clutch switch mod is a great thing to do. It leaves much less stress on the clutch and thrust bearings when starting up.

Correct stepping of the flywheel is a must for long, trouble free performance of your clutch system.

But like I said before, the ACT 2100# setup has been running strong for me for over 6k now w/ no signs of abnormal wear or any signs of problems. The ACT 2100 is a great clutch for FWD DSM's.
 
I bought a Spec Stage 2 Kevlar Clutch, and so far it is doing great. I haven't got to beat on it yet though. Just another option in my book.
