Well, the stars finally aligned and I had the money and found a car at the same time so I jumped on it and am now the owner of a 97 gsx with 53k miles on it. ($3300) :hellyeah: I bought it knowing it would need a lot of work considering the engine bay was a mess and the previous owner said it had crankwalk, which I haven't confirmed yet but it likes to die when you press the clutch pedal so.. we'll see. Anyway, I have some pics and like the title says I need some help.

What is this connector? (OBD2)

and this connector? (airbag)

And this open female connector in front of the brake fluid reservoir?

Also the air line going into the intake manifold is chafing, should I just wait until I get short route intercooler piping to fix that or would there be a somewhat easy way to fix it ahead of time?

Also, what should I do with this nonsense on the throttle body (plug it)

Last but not least would anyone recommend replacing this Greddy intercooler with the vrsf (short route piping) or even pr fmic? I dont like how its routed.

the first one is the obd2 connector

I believe the second one is the air bag control module connector

for the throttlebody the previous owner 'capped' the emission lines, so you can either leave it, find actual caps, or reinstall the emissions

and why would you replace a greddy front mount?

Thanks for the answers, as far as the fmic I dont like how it is routed and also want to get rid of the part of the intake before the intake manifold that is chafing on the thermostat. I'll definitely have to find better caps for the throttle body.. Are there any made specially for those?

Looks like you have one heck of a mess with those wires man. Check them out carefully and if everything looks ok, start to wrap them around with tape and route them accordingly. On the line to the bov, my guess is that the other line goes to a mbc, check it out and hook it up correctly. And I would keep the fmic if it checks out good after a boost leak test. Good luck man.

As far as the wires i'm in the process of getting rid of all the cruise control, ac, airbag, and other misc wires that wont be needed anymore. After i'm confident everything is routed and connected properly ill be taping/wire looming it all in place.
It does have a greddy mbc.. is that not how it is supposed to be hooked up?

More nonsense.. Ive done a lot of research on why my idle is retarded and why my car stalls when coming to a stoplight and results are all over the place. Narrowed it down to about 6 different things. Anyway I checked my IAC and each of the readings (all 4) are around 42 ohms when they should be between 28-32 if i remember right, so it looks like that's getting replaced.

Checked the TPS and either I'm just confused or it's bad too. I checked it when static and it checked out good (around 4.5k ohms). But then when I went to move the throttle through its range of motion it loses continuity. In my manual it says it should increase steadily. So is this bad as well?

Next up is a boost leak test.. I have a feeling i'll have a few leaks. I'm getting around to welding a nipple on the j-pipe to correctly install the mbc. Also, dsmlink is coming as soon as they email me back confirming they have available ecu's ;)
