Alrighty I am the proud owner of a 90 Eagle Talon TSi Awd once again. Drove to North Carolina and back to get it. I drove it home with no problems...really happy about that part. First question is there anyway to check and see if the engine is a stroker engine without at least pulling off the oil pan? The previous owner said that it is a 2.3L stroker eagle rods and wiseco 9:1 pistons. Owner also stated that it has HKS 272's with aem cam gears in it with Crower Valve springs and retainers and ss valves. Next question does aem make a non-adjustable cam gear? Because the cam gears don't have aem engraved anywhere on them they just look stock, I believe him on at least the valve springs and retainers thats one of the receipts I have and I actually have another set with a receipt too. Next question: would the 272's in a stoker idle like a stock car? The car idles like its stock and i have a friend with 272's in a 2.0 and it has a nice lobe to it. I'm planning on taking the valve cover off to verify the cams this weekend but was just curious. The car also has a pte 50 trim turbo, race fmic, turbo xs manual boost controller, Greddy BOV (recirculated), 2G ported manifold, 2G maf, Injen intake pipe, 660 cc injectors, AFPR, Supra fuel pump, afc neo, aem eugo wideband, autometer boost and egt gauge, 3" TBE, Palm with datalogger, EPROM ecu, custom burned chip with stutter box ACT 2600 with Fidanza Flywheel. The owner said that with this setup using an AFC-2, which he gave me along with probably about $800 worth of other misc. parts, that the car dynoed 487whp and 437 ft/lbs at 22 psi and ran an 11.4 sec quarter mile. The afc-2 burned up so thats why the neo is in it. Do those number seem accurate? Also I can't figure out why the factory tach and the tach readings on the afc aren't working, any suggestions? I've checked the transistor and all the plugs in the engine bay. I was thinking that maybe he screwed up hooking up the AFC. The logger isn't hooked up now I accidently broke the clip. Also a friend and I were trying to get a decent tune on it, it was running really rich at WOT at 15 lbs of boost, and we had to lean it out like 35% and it still isn't perfect....kind of hard to tune with no RPM's it's like taking a shot in the dark, but I was thinking that the injectors were bigger than 660's. My previous Talon had 780's in it on a 16g and I only had to lean it out 15% at 18lbs of boost. Well thanks for the help.

Just a little update. I looked up the numbers on the ecu and the numbers match the ecu for a 90 so now im really stumped on why the factory tach doesn't work. I'm guessing either new coil pack or possibly something behind the dash. Also got the afc to read the correct rpms. previous owner had it set up just all wrong. So with afc being able to get the rpms that leads me to believe that the ecu is good but that also means that the coil pack is probably working correctly, right? If so how would I begin to trace down where the problem is? Or should I just get an aftermarket?
Thanks in Advance

Update again: I did some research on the tach situation...I am going to check the cam angle sensor this weekend as well...Do you guys think that would cause the tach not to work...Main reason I'm checking is because it runs a little rough on start up. The only leak that I've been able to find is on the exhaust manifold to the turbo housing one of the bolts is broke off in it. When I was researching it said that if the cam angle sensor is bad then it will run rough on start up until it's warm...which this does and it could throw off the tach if I read the post correctly...Anyone know where the best place to buy a replacement is if it's bad? The dealer wants a fortune for it and there is like only one turbo car around here in the junkyards, and if I'm not mistaking it's a 91 (don't know if theres a difference between them) and the motor is gone.
