Alright I'm probably purchasing a car next week. A 1990 Talon TSI Here are the specs

rebuilt 92 6 bolt motor, new total sealrings, main bearings, ARP head studs,
ported head, new valves, new timing belt,no balance shafts, tranny rebuilt 5k ago, new syncros, bearings, and any damaged gears, new slave and master cylinders, 2.5 downpipe with test pipe, 3 inch cat back, act 2600 clutch, KN filter, custom intake pipe, bushcur upper intercooler pipe with 2g elbow, accell
wires, ngk plugs, 2g exhaust manifold ported, ported
02 housing, old style afc, boost and af gauges, hallman boost controller, poly uerothane motor mounts, walbro 255lph fuel pump

Anyways first of all I need to replace the fuel line it has a leak and the viscous coupler its getting worn out. No problems there. But the real question is what to do about the tachometer? It won't work because of the 92 engine in the 90 car. Do I have to buy an aftermarket one? I'm sorry if this seems trivial but I've been searching and can't really tell. I do believe I'll need to buy a new one. BUt where can you get one for under 200 bucks.

Swap out your ECU or modify yours to make it work. Its soemthing with a pin, you have to add a wire or something.

Contact Steve on these forums, he knows everything about ECU's

try a search though, it might come up
