Alright this is going to be a long one, but i'll try to cover everything.
Problem - Extremely bad compression across all 4 pistons Not entirely sure what the numbers where but it was like 90 - 60 - 120 - 0.
Prior to doing the work on my car i made sure compression was good
Diagnoses - Leaking intake valves
Here's the story.
Over the past month i've been upgrading pretty much everything my car.
New suspension
Cams
turbo
manifolds
meth injection
NO head or engine work minus the cams
Just recently i finished everything up and started her up. I thought i heard valves smacking so i killed the engine and check timing again. It was dead on, so i asked my buddy and he said its more then likely the oil lifters are dry since the car was without oil and the valve cover was off for a week or 2. The new intake / exhaust manifold are also thinner then the cast stuff so you can hear whats going on a lot easier.
So eventually the sound went away but the car was still running crappy and i knew i had some major boost leaks.
Ran a boost leak test and found some really big ones at the intercooler itself and i forgot to put a check valve in place on the brake booster so it was leaking from there. (those where my 2 major ones)
After fixing that i still couldn't build any boost and i noticed it was coming out of my oil cap. I replaced my PCV valve and it was still doing it.
So at this point it had to be my valves or something. I ended up doing the compression test and it was shit
. Did a wet compression test and it went up a little but hardly at all.
So i torn everything down again and made sure timing was dead on, hell i took the time to redo timing all over again.
I made sure i didn't mix up my cam gears.
Finally i took my exhaust manifold off and did the boost leak test.
I went through every single piston with the intake valves open and exhaust closed and nothing leaked.
I did the test again, but backwards and went through each piston making the intake valves closed and exhaust valves open and i could feel air rushing out of each cylinder.
So at this point in time all of my intake valves are bent.
Now my questions is HOW THE HELL DID THIS HAPPEN.
Timing has been perfect both before and after starting the motor.
Something could have gotten inside the cylinder but that wouldn't of effect all of them.
I double checked and made sure i didn't mix up my cams. They are FP2's and one says E and the other says I. Hell i made sure when i installed them i took them out of the correct box.
The only thing i can think that has happened is the intake cam was wrong.
I'm not pissed that the head is shot, i'm more pissed that i don't know what happened and if i swap the head its going to just happen again.
Please give me your opinions let me know whats up. I'm baffled
