Looking to find a shop to install my star kit on my rs. I'm looking for a shop in the tristate area. I'm in New York and I've found a couple of shop but I not to sure of the kind of job they do, as when I tell them about the kit they say it's not for my car or that I should just by a turbo car. Just looking for some info i don't wanna have problems from someone not knowing what there doing. If anyone in the area has had any experience with there own kits that would be a great help.

Thanks in advance
Junior

The last thing you want is a shop to install it. Not only will you spend hundreds (even thousands) on labour, they probably won't even install it correctly. Your best option would be to get a Hahn kit which has detailed instructions or post on one of your local forums and find a reputable guy to help you out.

just to restate what i said.... the turbo install is very easy. takes some time but easy. the only thing you will need a shop for it to weld a flange to your oil pan. if you can use a wrench you can do this. make sure to use wd 40 on the stock exhaust manifold and heat sheld. besides that take the stock parts off put the turbo parts on. replace the fuel pump and install a fmu. put a boost gauge on and your good to go.

dood he already got a star kit(good choice imo), dont tell him to buy a hahn kit. just use the hahn instructions, and like everyone else said, do it yourself, its fairly strait forward and simple. trust me, get some jack stands and a creeper, and basic hand tools will get the job done. oh yeah, heres the hahn kit instructionshttp://home.bendcable.com/optimuspeterson/hrc_instructions.htm

yea me and a cuople of buddies were going to put my kit on, they said it could be done in a weekend easily. but then i decided to rebuild the engine so i could boost 15+ lbs. so now im just taking it to a guy that has his own shop and does engine swaps and rebuilds daily. my best advice to you, if your afraid youll mess up then try to find someone that has expierence with our cars and ask them to help. or if you do decide to take it to someone else just make sure you ask them a ton of questions, if they answer them in a way that makes you shudder even a little bit, RUN. also, ask to see some past work or something.

:shhh: you're not suppose to use the Hahn instructions without buying the kit. Even though I would have done it anyway :p

haha i remember finding the site i gave him and thinking oh this is great. well i forgot to save it so when i was looking for it again i found one that said "Do not use this if you have not purchased a hahn kit" so i was like whatever ill look for the other site, only to realize the other site was the same one skipping that warning part LOL.

haha that's great. :tease:

oh yea here's the pics you wanted of the starter. Its like half an inch away.

yeah i myself have found this kit to be 75% easier than i thaught installing it, the hardest thing was getting my stock exhaust apart because i was reusing the old cat, nothing some air tools didnt make alot easier, oh yeah and a couple of smoked drill bits and blown up sawzal bits, but eh thats cheap!

so to put it in a easier way, if you can install an exhaust, and an intake and tighten bolts you should have no problem with this kit

Or you could be like my friend, and get a mitsubishi tech to help you out. Not that they know how to put the kit together, but they know how to make sure sh*t doesn't get messed up while doing it. And with the hahn instructions it shouldn't be to hard to figure out.'

If you've got a mitsu dealership just stand by the service depart garage and see if any of the techs do any work on the side. You might get lucky.
