Need suggestions for new tranny...

Turns out my tranny is about to go so I'm looking to get another. I have a 1990 TSI AWD 5 speed Talon and was wondering which tranny I should look into getting. My future plans ( much later) will involve it getting rebuilt by shep or an entire new one, but for now I need something that will be the best to run with. Are there any specific years or models I should look into getting?

If you get anything other then a 90 then your gonna need the transfer case also. Mitsubishi switched to a 23 spine shaft from a 22 spline shaft. When I was talking to shep about getting my transmission built, He said that if possible to send a 90 tranny due to somthing that was stronger in them that the 91+'s don't have. Either way anything from 90-94 will work just make sure you get the transfer case if you get a 91+. I know the 92+ trannys have double schyno's on second gear also.
