I need somebody with a data logger and experience in tuning with an SAFC-2, to help me out. right now im running a supra TT fuel pump, 650cc injectors, aeromotive fpr and an safc. Id be willing to pay for your services and would greatly appreciate any recommendations on who to go to. thanks.

not having a datalogger is just like shooting your self in the foot. very easy, yet very stupid.

buy a palm IIIc color on ebay for like 40, then the cable for like 10, you can do it yourself, you have enough stuff on this site to help you. start a thread in the tuning section and get a datalogger and youll be fine.

I would rather have someone else help me out with it, because its something im not very familiar with and i need to get it fixed as soon as possible.

i havent dealt with fftec yet, but im taking my car there for them to help me tune my dsmlink. When i used to have an safc paul from newlogics was more than happy to help me tune. he has a logger and would ride along with me when i did pulls. He'll answer your questions and help you as much as he can. His shop # is 510 234 1568 or you can pm him on here... his user name is "newlogics".
Hope this helps... i know tuning can be somewhat intimidating at times. But you DO need to get your own logger, just for peace of mind. I'll sell you a plug with an adaptor for a palm 3 for like $10-15 then you can get the palm from e-bay for cheap.

ok ill try contacting him, and just an FYI i 100% know that i need to get a data logger thats not a problem.

i think prostreetonline has a few general safcII settings for different setups you could use as a general tune just to drive and be on the safe side.

i believe with 650's on my buddies safcII he was at -40 across the board. though its stupid to do much of anything without seeing at least timing or o2 volts to know if youre pulling timing(aka knocking) or going lean or whatnot.

hey whats up... i remember talkin to you at the meet. I have the exact same fuel set up as you, except i have just an S-AFC and also am EPROM chip... You should really look into getting a chip. It helps out a lot!

heres the link!

hrm thats strange, i couldve sworn 2g's had them as well. i guess the ecu just pulls timing by guessing?

i wasnt talking about counts of knock, im talking about seeing the timing being pulled DUE to knock or predetonation.

my bad, I ment we can log our knock, I know you guys have knock sensors too, yours is the one that doesn't go crazy between 2500-3000 rpms at 30% tps....

but I would rather log knock knowing to ignore that stuff than not log knock at all...

You were at the meet! damn it would have been weird to see my old car again. I miss that thing alot. As for the tunning talk to sean at fftec and tell him zach sent you he'll take care of you.

I think i am going to go there also. I need some tuning help as well. How much would he charge for some wideband tuning or even just logging help?

www.fftec.com will answer all the questions about dyno pricing

im gonna try to get my talon there soon to help a little with dsmlink, but i think i can get a decent tune out of it now, b/c im putting in my wideband, and can log it in dsmlink so i should be all good... I still want to go to see my #'s though for sure!!

I don't mean to take away from the original post but I just installed DSMlink and I really don't know how to tune with it. Is FFTEC the closest to the North Bay that can get a good base tune lined out? I live in Santa Rosa so I prefer not to drive too far but I really need to get some knowledge under my belt asap. Anyone out there with any experence would be much appreciated. I am currently running Walbro 190 fuel pump, FIC 650cc injectors, Frankenstien 19c turbo, supra smic, GM Maf & Maft V2.xx etc.
Thanks in advance.

CDALE, get the injectors dialed in properly first (deadtime/global) with your fuel trims within 5%, then take it to fftec. If your fuel trims are all over the place you are just pissin in the wind man. Im still trying to get my injectors closer to zero, they are witin 5%, but still could be closer.
You dont want to spend money on dyno/tuning time for Sean to just find out that your injectors arent dialed in and you cant get a proper tune.

If you are all dialed in and ready for the tune, than ask Sean if you can sit in the car or watch what he does while he's tuning and why he responds to the situation with what timing/air fuel changes and why. I asked sean this already because this is pretty much where im at. I have some knowledge of what im doing but id like know how to attack a tune with X settings to be able to street tune faster and not be doing too many pulls on the streets. Sean said if its not to hectic in the dyno area and he has the time he'd be more than happy to explain what he's doing in a given situation and why.

hope this helps bro

Exactly ask Jerry to schedule you on a day that not to much is going on. If there isn't much going on in the shop sean usually let's the person sit around or sit in the car and watch him tune/ask questions.

Excellent, thanks, I have my injectors really close I believe due to having the chip programed for the injectors ahead of time. I've got a boost sensor coming in the mail so I'm going to wait for that and follow the suggested tuning technique for that. At that point I think I'll be ready for a dyno tune. Thanks again for the suggestions.
