hey guys i have a 1g 1994 talon my turbo seal is gone i think and i was going to just upgrade to a 16g what do you think and what will i need to do it??

http://www.dsmtuners.com/sub.php?page=1gtupgrades here is everything to go by, you would be able to run the 16g on the stock fuel system but only at stock boost level and you really wouldnt see a big difference, start with exhaust, downpipe, air filter, regular maintinence, intercooler piping, 550cc or 650cc injectors will be perfect for 16g, either a 190lph or 255 lph fuel pump with the 255 you will need a FPR, crushed 1g bov or aftermarket. s-afc or dsmlink to tune the car. a boost controller, i would recommend a hallman pro manual boost controller, after market boost gauge since the stock one is not accurate at all and that should be it, but tell us your plans for the car so we can give you a little more detail.

Since your turbo is gone, why not just get another 14b? The difference is minimal and the 14b would be alot cheaper. Anyhow, a 16g should just drop right in a 1g if you are dead set on getting one. (Just remember, a good 14b car can go just as fast)

Well put.

Stop listing all the upgrades he will 'kinda' need to run his 16G. I'm sure he was simply asking what parts are needed to drop the turbo in.

4 new turbo bolts
New turbo-to-manifold gasket
New turbo-to-o2 housing gasket
New crush washers won't hurn (oil and water lines)
new oil return line gaskets (oil pan side and turbo side)

That would about cover it.
I strongly recommend to port turbo exhaust housing and wastegate port (described well in the how-to section here) to avoid boost creep once you upgrade your exhaust.

That should cover installation neccesseties.

As for support mods, 550cc injectors are PLENTY for 16g. Don't go higher unless you plan to upgrade your turbo again soon. Stock injectors will be sufficient to certain level as well. Addition of fuel pump and afpr will allow you to get more fuel out of stock injectors. Some sort of tuning ability will be needed to take that 16g to it's limit. SAFC will be sufficient if you keep injectors under 550cc size. Bigger injectors will translate into timing issues.

My advice, is to simply throw the turbo on, get a boost gauge and raise boost to about 14psi. That hardly requires any tuning. Meanwhile, you can get al the other stuff together for a decent setup.

Well, im sorry he didnt say he just wanted to "drop the turbo in" he didnt specify whether or not he wanted to get more power out of it so i just threw some stuff out there for him to go by, either way now he should have all the info he needs, like i said in my other post if he was to just put the turbo in on the stock fuel system just keep the boost low.:thumb:

hey guys thanks for all of the help does anyone know of anyone selling a good 14b

personally, I would never buy a used turbo untill I can inspect it in person. So I suggest find a local one for sale, or better yet, if low price is what you're after, look at this:
cheap Evo3

It's EVO3 GT, with 1yr warranty. There has been a long debate over the merit of those turbos, but at this price it's worth it IMHO.

I have to disagree, the difference between the 14b and a big 16g or an Evo 3 16g is pretty significant. The 14b can flow about half the amount of air as an Evo 3 16g, so how can a 14b car go just as fast? How many 14b's have made over 400whp without nitrous?
