i guess i have to post my question here because im a "Newbie" haha.
i Have a 2g with stock suspension and I have a set of rims that i plan on painting and putting new rubber on them because the tires that are on them now wore terribly because of the previous owner didnt get a alignment. i got it aligned so im in the market for some tires. the size of the tires on them are Federal super steels 215/45 R17 87 V. Im looking for some all season tires because i dont want to put the stocks on during the winter. Where i live i do get some snow not a ton. what other sizes could fit on these rims(like 50, or a 225?) and what are some good brands that are a good deal? i am also looking for a good used set of 4.

I have stock 97 TSi AWD wheels, and I run a 215/50/17 in the summer. I live in a very snowy place in the winter, so during the winter i change over to a 195/60/16 snow tire, which works very well. I would recommend getting a pair of steel rims, as (generally) it will pay off to have a higher profile (read: less expensive) tire in the winter and the ability to switch them whenever you want.

i do have the stock 5 spoke wheels but 2 of the tires are too bald for snow so id have to get those as well as four 17" tires

yokohama tires are the best rubbers if you ask me and all my friends you can have for your car or anyone whos ever owned a set. They make racing performance tires in japan, my dads a manager at a testing facility for them, thats all weve ever had on any of our vehicles that weve owned. check yokohama.com out or any tire distributors like terrys tire town etc will sell them. you cannot go wrong with these tires! i live in ohio we get hit hard in the winter and my eclipse on 18's with a 2inch lowering kit and a body kit didnt have a problem last year which is when we got my car
