What is the NTE977 part of the diagram on method 1 of the wiring diagram?
http://www.roadraceengineering.com/1gcasin2g95-96.htm

Is this a plug ?

Where is it at on the car if it is?

By the ecu or in the engine bay?

Also what is meant by using shielded wiring?

Just regular wire and wrap it around in electrical tape?

The cam sensor plug and the crank sensor plug are the 2 plugs that came off the upper right timing belt side of the 7 bolt engine right?

I have only found shielded wire as far as rca cables go etc,so just wrap the wires?

Can someone please answer these questions? I am awaiting member approval on the yahoo 1g2g so i need help. Thanks

The NTE977 to the best of my knowledge is a transistor you probably have to put it in the wiring some where with the chip. Shielded wire is wire that has a heat shielding over it to protect it from heat and electromagnetic(sp?) pulses. You are right about the cam and crank sensor. Hope this is of some help. Later, Keith.

The NTE977 is a 5 volt (100mA) positive voltage regulator but it looks somewhat like a transistor. Shielded wire is a wire with an insulator and a metal braid (shield) around it to block out electrical interference (which you should definately do in this application). You connect the shield to ground (at both ends if possible). Any electrical or radio store will have it.

Good info.Where is this transistor located at though? Also radio shack didnt have any shielded wire.Anyone have a link where i could order some? Cant i just clip the wires right at the plugs hooked up to the 7 bolt and bring them over to the CAS and do soldering? Yellow blue black etc.?

Even Radio shack may have them.

Shielded wire? Yes Radio shack has it unless it's too small a guage wire. Try Home Depot, Circuit City, or maybe some auto stores.

Yes you could wire without shielded wire but then you will be suceptable to any electrical noise (like spark plugs, etc) which can make unwanted pulses in the circuit and give false CAS signals.

Thank you for the links. Okay ...so what i think i was misunderstanding was that i thought i already had a NTE977 on my car somewhere...I need to buy one of these and install it with my wiring diagram? Radio shack in my small town of southern georgia are idiots and dont know what im talking about with shielded wire except in rca applications. Is there a link out there of a place i can buy this wire? So theres NOT an NTE 977 already in my car with the ecu, right? Thanks

-Look at the top picture of the wire, it has a outer vinyl cover, then a ground wire, then a layer of foil wrap around the 3 wire (3 conductors).

-I'm not sure if Mouser sell those wire by ft, you should try Home depot or some electronic shop, the type that use for low voltage application such as door belt. You would need a small plastic box to house those components and possibly a bread board (blank circuit board) for the components to sit on.

-According to the diagram, cam angle sensor plug wires go to the chip then to the 1g sensor, I think the only safe way of doing this is to put them in a plastic box.

Here is my best attempt at runnung around everywhere to find shielded wire to wire the CAS mod on the 1g2g swap. Will this work? It doesnt have a place to ground it on each end,BUT if you look at the wires that are originally there for the cas etc.THOSE arent sheilded either just in a plastic housing etc. Can someone tell me if this will do the job? Thanks,Travis

Your picture looks like solid gauge house wiring. You want smaller gauge stranded insulated wires all wrapped in a shield which is inside an outer plastic casing. The original isn't shielded because there are no circuit components there to receive electrical interference. They are all in the shielded ECM box. If you can't find shielded wire just try wire similiar to what's on the present CAS and hope you don't get any interference. Maybe you'll get lucky - keep the wires as far away from the spark plug wires and coils as possible.

Thanks for the help.I found a street wires housed cable that has like 8 wires in it.Would that work better than nothing? If anyone HAS used shielded wire or has a link to a website that sells what i am needing please post it.Or post a pic of YOUR shielded wires...If you DIDNT use shielded wire on your 1g swap please let me know and if everything worked or what problems you had..Thanks
