I'm getting ready to replace my starter and I need some help. I have a 98 eclipse spyder GST but the motor was replaced by the previous owner and the VIN is unreadable...when I went to buy an idle air control motor I told them it was a 98 eclipse 2.0 turbo and the idle air control motor was wrong so i told them to look it up for a 96 eclipse 2.0 turbo and sure enough it was the right idle Air control motor. Now when it comes to the starter they are telling me that one for a 98 is different from the one for a 96 which lead me to believe that I will need the one for the 96. I want to make sure that I am right or at least that what I'm saying makes sense because they have the starter for the 96 in stock but the one for the 98 will have to be ordered so I want to make sure I kno which one I need before i pull the old one out. Thanks guys.
