Need help with a SMOKE ???

Ok i have a 98 gsx 6 bolt turbo is a t3 t4 SCM 61 has about 30 000 miles ruffly on the turbo, start it up there is no smoke drive easy no smoke but as soon as i boost and let of there is abig pile of smoke behind me, It was doing small puffs ( boost hard let of shift gas again lok back big puff) so i wondering if its my turbo seal?? I have good vacume on my boost gauge and im not buring or goin through much oil. I will take my intake of tommorow and see what it looks like in there and feel for shaft play too!! Just wanted to know what u guys would do?? Thanks!

Take off the intake and check the turbo for sha.....

If the turbo feels fine, follow it up with a compression test and/or a leakdown test.
