I've never had a new one before.Anyways the guy I'm buying the dbb 50 trim from says it's been sitting for the last 6 months and for me not to expect the turbo to spin freely when I get it(that sounds kinda fishy to me) but he said theres no oil in it and it needs to be primed. Can I trust him on this, like I said I have never even touched a new or any other turbo, other than the one thats on my car.thanks

I guess he didn't say spin "freely", he just said don't expect it to spin like I would think it would ,it needs to be primed.Does this sound right,I don't want to shell out the money if the bearings are toast.

Is the turbo used? I have a BB turbo that has been sitting for over a year, not used, and it spins as freely as it did when i first got it.

if its ball bearing, it should turn.. unless it seized.. if he popped his motor, depending on what he did, he could have easily got metal shavings in it and screwed the bearings..

lucky for you, rebuilding a turbo is not hard... if you can get it at a good price, then get it and just rebuild it.. compare the price of a new one, versus the cost of buying this one, and putting new seals and bearings in it.. plus, its fun to do...

Well the guy just sent me more pics and also called me,so I had to ask more questions. He said the turbo spins fine but not like I would think a brand new ballbearing would,he said he has had people look at it and they said it just needed oil in it and that his motor didn't actually blow up peices but just started knocking. He also said he is willing to (write a contract)refund all my money if there was actually something wrong. He seems pretty genuine but, I really cant afford a 800$ mistake.

up to you man, you either want to spend the money on a suspect turbo used, or spend a few more $$$ and get a new one.
Just remember you get what you pay for. Then again, the turbo could be perfectly fine.

Just are you willing to find out.

well if the motor started knocking, that means you toasted some bearings...and there would be metal shavings all in that motor..your best bet is to buy a new one...
