alright well i have a 93 gsx. i have hks cams, sbr exhaust manifold, 255 fuel pump, 3 inch exhaust, intercooler kit, 720 injectors that havent been put in yet and a stand alone that im going to be using later. anyway what i need to find out is the other day i decided to buy a pte turbo from this guy although come to find out the damn thing is a 60 trim thats internally gated. now i dont know if i can even use it. can i actually use it or is it a waste of time? please help i dont know what to do. im kinda pissed about the whole thing and i was just thinking of buying myself a supra my dream ride but i love mitsubishi, please help fellas

Whatz ur problem then? You know have a 60 trim...itz internally gated...so no need for an external gate...it will bolt on to ur stock o2 housing.... What are you asking about??? you have everything u need to basically run this turbo...

what i mean is, isnt this turbo to big to use on my near somewhat stock setup? i heard you cant use the 60 trim unless you plan on boosting well over 24 psi. can i actually do that or would i have to build the motor to do that?

wouldnt it lag to much, i want something thats streetable but mostly used for drag

I think what you are trying to say is that a 60 trim isnt operating in its effeciency range until it is between 22-26lbs of boost (built motor of course), and thats where you will reap the benefits of the 60 trim wheel. However, running it at 18-20psi will still net you some decent numbers. Dont panic, you have a turbo that you might never need to upgrade again. If you plan on getting rid of it, throw it my way...LOL

well, as they say.... "its not lag, its foreplay" but regardless, you'll be fine with the 60-trim. what hks combo are you running?

Good point, you'll prolly never need to upgrade the turbo again, then its time to get internal. :talon:

i have 264 intake , 272 exhaust cams from hks, also i understand it should be able to boost just fine but if i were to street race someday i more than likely wouldnt boost til late right so a regular street race is going to be harder to win than if i were at the track? at my right. its nice to hear i have some type of support over what i bought because i feel like an ass  buying a huge ass turbo for my car. overall though i want a sweet ride that'll take me to 11's.

In trying to run 11s, your have the right turbo. As a matter of fact a p/c 20g TDO6H with a good list of supporting mods should do just that>>>you have AWD. In terms of spool up, I don't really know of a quick spooling ( full boost pre 3500) turbo that pulls a full weight GSX into the 11.

Want to reduce lag?.......downshift. :thumb:
Lag is overrated.(period)
I have a pte scm50 and if i would have quit reading these threads written by people that either have never run a larger turbo or cant tune, then i would have never gotten a big28 before this 50trim.
Simply put....can you notice a difference in lag ..."yes"
is it that huge of a difference......"no".
Let's say the difference happens to be 1000rpm before full boost....say 4k instead of 3k.
When you shift do you allow the rpm's to fall below 4k between shifts?
I would think prob no.
So the only lag to deal with is launch...either from a stop or punch.
Punch is dealt with by downshifting.
Launch is dealt with by starting from 4k or so.

By no means exact science but driving skill takes care of the added lag which isnt that drastic. The only reason i didnt get the scm60 was i was worried about lag....having driven the scm50, i dont think it would have bothered me that much.

Hope you like your turbo and good luck. :D

Fp claims their fp big t28 does it ;)

Yes, it's true - they did pull their full weight GSX into the 11's. But 99 out of 100 of your Big28 users arent going to be even close to the 11's.... I would say it's possible, but def. not the easiest or most practical goal to shoot for...

I have a pte 60 trim internally gated on my car. I get full boost (22 psi) at about 4100 rpms. The lag isnt that bad. Thats with stock cams and 8.5:1 pistons.

thanks guys....damn i love being a dsmer!!!! :thumb:

Man I love my 60 trim. Always had a 60 trim and at 15 psi you'll even love it I get full boost at 3500 on my stock 6 bolt. And looking for 3000 on my 2.3l when I put it in my car in a week or two. And this is with 450 cc. 15-17 degree timing.

Did the writer of this thread get a 60 with 6 curved inducer blades or the 60-1 with the 7 straight blades? Mark

You're running a 60-1 with stock 450's. You are a brave man. How's your injector duty.

The MAFT & 880's will give you sky high timing without an EPROM and dschip. Perhaps you have an EPROM ECU? I tried 720's with my MAFT and could not get the timing in order, even with a base timing of 2*. Mark

I will be running the DSMLINK too but a few weeks down the road. Too much timing well I can turn up the boost.

Just a heads up:) I ended up buying an EPROM ECU and dsmchip from keydiver. Best wishes

Sweet97 , Right now I'm using PTE 780cc Injectors with just the GM-MAFT and no EPROM, I too was having a huge problem with running really high timing, 25-28* of advance during a WOT pull. I did find an answer to my problem and possibly yours too, IF you have a AFPR. I lowered my base FP to around 32-34 PSI, and set the " Base " Injector compensation to 650's and it straightened my timing right out. Bout 15-18* of advance during WOT pulls. Running 24lbs on an SCM50 with no detonation. Give it a try!!

PS. I do plan on getting DSMLink, I'm just broke at the moment

looking back at the responses you guys have given me. it seems like everyone has bigger injectors. whats a good injector size for my 60 trim? do 780cc seem pretty suitable for maybe 22 pounds of boost? im pretty curious i have 720 that i havent installed yet although im going to go with a stand alone so does that help out the situation?
