Ok...I've got missing and conflicting torque specs on my CD svc manual. Its a 95 Eclipse - 420a (Non turbo) - automatic trans.

1. Crank - Harmonic Damper/Balancer pulley - Does anyone have a REAL service manual made of paper? On my CD manual The Pictoral diagram on page 212 shows 45 ft lbs for the damper bolt... BUT.... The pictoral diagram on page 189 shows 105 ft lbs for the same bolt! The torque specs chart at the beginning of the engine section shows 45 ft lbs. On the Dodge Neon forum a 98 SOHC 2.0 neon (taken directly from a service manual - but WHICH ONE) shows 105 ft lbs! At Torkspec.com thier interactive torque spec chart for a 2.0 chrysler says 105 ft lbs.

SO which is it? 45 ft lbs or 105?

2. Driveplate/flexplate torque specs are not on my cd service manual. It only shows for the manual transmission. From what I found online at a few of the same sources I just mentioned... it APPEARS Driveplate to crankshaft is 70 ft lbs and Torque Converter to Driveplate is 50 ft lbs.... but I'd like to verify those as well.

Engine is off the stand on my cradle waiting to get hoisted but ...I need to get the driveplate on before I can put it in.

Thanks in advance.

45ft lbs on the crank pulley seems rather low. I would go with 105ft lbs usually for torques specs I know it sounds dumb but I call autozone they have a system they use they will tell you torque specs and fluid capacity misc usueful info. Hope this helps.

I just put in a call to my local dealer they are going to look up the info and get back to me as soon as I have that information I will post it.

The NT Harmonic Damper/Balancer pulley (single bolt) is 105 ft-lbs. Not sure what the 45 ft-lbs is because I show 18 ft-lbs for the turbo one (4 bolts) both in my 97 and 99 manuals (don't have 95 but it's probably the same).

Yeah... 45 does sound low ...but my folks maxima was only 35 and the manual said to use oil on the bolt instead of loctite! - I found oil on the threads when I took it apart too (even 11 years after it was built) so that was accurate information! Crazy!

I did call to my local mitsu dealer parts dept. wednesday but the guy said i'd need to talk to a mechanic and service was already closed. I'm sure parts has the info on the computer and I hate to bother the service guys since they work on flat rate. I only do that as a last resort.

Anyway, since you already called ...thanks for the effort. I'll check back to see what you come up with.

Thanks. Since the keyway doesn't extend to the balancer (dumb IMO) i'd think 105 makes more sense. What's crazy...is I also checked Dorman (HELP) products and the aftermarket balancer they make comes up as 45 ft lbs in their online chart. Wonder how many people are putting these things on only to have em come loose!! Wondering if I should put oil on the threads to achieve accurate torque or use a bit of loctite.

Was there any indication for the torque converter to driveplate and driveplate to crankshaft torque specs? Need those too.

Thanks
