Alright fellas. Recently my car has started to make a chattering noise ONLY when engaged in 3rd gear. Now I know the only way to really know is to take it apart so I'm not going to ask for opinions on what it could be but rather on something else.

This car is my way to get around including to and from work. My question is should I just drive to and from work and avoid using 3rd gear, or should I tear it down ASAP?

Thing is if I can ride it for a bit I will be able to save up for a complete rebuild kit in about a month and then have a mostly new tranny. If I tear it down ASAP I will have to just fix was wrong with it as that is all the money I have at the moment. What do you guys suggest to me?

Keep in mind my tranny has 188k miles, hence why I want to do a complete rebuild.
