To make a long story short, I was driving home from work yesterday, and my downpipe decided to come apart from the rest of my exhaust (slip fit). So I pulled my catback off because it was rubbing and bouncing off the driveshaft, driving me crazy. I decided to just buy a new downpipe instead of getting the exhaust welded back on to the stock one. I would really like an o2 eliminator downpipe, just because it makes for an easier fit, plus getting all the parts I need at once.

So my question is, what o2 eliminator downpipe do you recommend? Also, how long would an aluminized downpipe last? I live in chicago, so I do get some salt and snow. I would like to get an external dump with it. I'd rather get a 3". What vendor can get the part to me the fastest? I've heard some people have to wait like 2-3 weeks for it to come in. I'd rather not drive around that long with just an open downpipe.

Thanks in advance,
Shane

dejonpowerhouse.com has an o2 elim dp.

check out sbr otherwise. they've got some. i think vrs, and something else. everything else takes quite a while i think to get a o2 elim. but then again i don't have one, so i'd just check out a few sites.

dejon is paypal though so unless you have a paypal connected to a credit card it's be a little while to get the part.

as for the aluminized, i've had it on my car for about a month now and it seems to be holding really well. only thing that looks a little off is a weld around my tip and an exhaust clamp that my mechanic put on it.

RNR is decent although they don't use the best quality stainless steel. Mine is starting to have some surface rust on it, nothing affecting the structural strength though. The rest of my system isn't rusting yet though.

You won't be able to get this that quickly though.

Alluminized should last the life of the vehicle. At least ten years in conditions such as your region expieriences. Then again, I've seen some pretty rusty autos come from up north.

Well considering I would like my downpipe fast, an o2 elimator is pretty much out of the question. I think I will go with a 2.5" aluminized dp then because my hi-flow cat necks down to about 2 1/2 on the downpipe side. And then buy an o2 housing seperately. Does anyone know of a dp like this that will fit with either an evo3 o2 or o2 w/ external dump?

Thanks again guys

I think I found a downpipe/o2 housing combo I like. It is an evo3 o2 housing, and their 2 3/4" EVO3-O2 Down-pipe (fits an EVO3 O2 housing and is 2 3/4" diameter till before the 3" flex section). With the proper gaskets, it comes out to $388 after shipping. I think this sounds like a good deal. Does anyone have experience with these products?

I appreciate all the quick responses, as I want to get this ordered as quick as possible. I dont mind driving around with an open downpipe, but I'm sure my neighborhood does LOL.

Thanks again

Yea I went ahead and ordered the dp, evo3 o2 housing, and mbc (need one anyway LOL, why not?) It says they come with all needed gaskets, i sure hope so LOL.

After shipping, it came to about 417. Which is less then most of the o2 elimators i was looking at :D. I just hope it doesnt take forever to get here.

Thanks again

depends on how you paid through paypal, but i got after i ordered my exhaust it took like 2 days to clear and shipped REAL fast.

i also ended up getting an intake and uicp from them and they shipped it withing 2 days. so it really shouldn't take long man.

let me know how that things spools with an evo o2 and new dp. what turbo you have and what psi r u going to set to?

Yea i paid thru paypal. I also installed their uicp and intake pipe like 2 weeks ago, i like them, but it was a tight fit LOL.

I am still running the 14b. Right now, its running 14-15 psi with the bcs restrictor removed. But I creep every once in a while. I plan to run about 14-15 psi again on the street. I still need a fuel pump before i run anymore. Along with a clutch, haha. It slips alot in 3rd gear and up.

At the track, I may try some race gas and 18 psi or so.

I plan to get all this crap installed and I'd love to get it tuned my mid-march. So we'll see.

Well i had to buy the abs uicp, so yours may be different. But I installed the uicp first, then tried the intake pipe. No good. Had to put the intake pipe in first, then the uicp. I also had to trim my bov return tube. It was too long for the new pipes.

My filter is like wedged on the coupler to the uicp. The coolant overflow bottle also kind of gets in the way, so you need to try different positions with the intake tube. Like twist it a certain way to get everything to fit. You'll see what i mean. The total install took like 2 1/2 hours i think.

Another tricky part is the throttle body elbow. Its a bit difficult to tighten some of the bolts going into the throttle body. I think i used 2 stock bolts, and 2 of the bolts they give you because they were different lengths.

Do the 2 bolts closer to the engine first when you put the elbow on, it made it easier for me. I hope everything makes sense LOL
