name this oil filter housing

Im in the process of swapping a 6 bolt in my 96 GSX, is this from a 6 bolt or 7 bolt 4g?

It's hard to tell if it is for a 6 bolt or 7 bolt without a clear picture of the bolt pattern, or a picture of the oil pan lip under the crank pulley. The 6 bolt and 7 bolt water cooled housings look real similar, the spacing on the mounting holes is different though. If it is bolted to a 6 bolt engine than it is a 6 bolt housing, if it is bolted to a 7 bolt than it is a 7 bolt housing.

Like Bryan said, just look at the oil pan under the crank pulley. If it dents inward, it is a 6 bolt motor therefore a 6 bolt oil filter housing. Hope this link helps!

Is it bolted to a 6 bolt engine, or a 7 bolt? It looks like a 7 bolt engine with the lower timing cover.

Its actually a 6 bolt engine, 6 bolts on the flywheel

I hope that braided stainless line coming out of it is not feeding a turbo!

If you are planning to feed the turbo from that housing, use the "middle" port -- the only one that doesn't have something else in it -- on the front of the housing as it is filtered oil.

Well I recieved this 6 bolt when I bought the GSX, so I might need you guys help to steer me in the right direction. I think it already has a 7 bolt head on it because the code on the head is 4G5 instead of 2.0...but I have a green top CAS and Two plugs for the CAS
