Ok, I'm looking at maybe getting a nitrous setup to help me spool my turbo faster. I've been reading up on this and it seems like a logical idea but my question is how do you set this up? I know most nitrous setups activate at wot, so is the nitrous just going the instant i hit wot? Cause that would really through off my launches just hammering it at go. Also, does the nitrous stay on all through wot or is there a preset rpm that it shuts off at? Just looking into some insite on this to see if its a route I'd like to go or not.

I am looking for the answer of how to tune the nitrous to work with the turbo so I put it in here, but as I'm getting no replies should I move it to the nitrous page? It seems like just a bunch of people trying to sell stuff in that sections so any help would be appreciated

Acctually using nitrous to spool up a turbo is a dumb idea. There are a few things you should know about nitrous and turbo combinations.

First you will rarely if ever use it on the street because you end up over what pump gas will support pretty quickly. Nitrous typically has an arming switch that just supplies power to a relay that the solenoids run off. You also have a microswitch that is activated when you go wot by the throttlle body or putting it under the gas pedal. In this setup you would only spray the instant you go WOT. You can convert your arming switch into an arming button so that you still can only spray at wot but it doesn't spray the instant you go wot unless your pushing the arming button. THat way you must be at WOT to spray but you can delay it for your launch if you want.

With that said you here are a few things you should know. If your setting your boost at 18psi the instant you spray its gonna be 22psi. The instant you hit the nitrous your 50hp shot wll give you a 100hp increase at the wheels from nitrous and cooling. Your turbo will spool instantly, no delay, nothing. As soon as you hit the nitrous the turbo will be at max boost almost instantly. You will need to be on race gas to do this almost no matter what unless your running 15psi and a 35hp shot which you could do with pump gas, 15psi would be say 18-19psi plus an extra 75-85hp (35hp from nitrous 40-50hp from cooling effect) should be ok on pump gas with good tuning. The instant you shut off the nitrous because your turbo is then spooled you will feel a HUGE power loss.

Basically using nitrous to spool a turbo is a really dumb idea. It's the equivelant to setting your boost controller to 25psi because your turbo spools faster but once it gets there dropping it back to 15psi. You would feel a huge loss in power. If your going to spray your car, spray the whole time though the whole gear. Using nitrous to spool a turbo is not something your going to do on the street lets put it that way. WHen nitrous hit,s its a lot of HP instantly bring the turbo on like a brick wall. Imagine going from 150hp at WOT before the turbo spools to 400hp instantly. It's gonna be like being hit in the rear from a fast moving truck.

Regardless the best nitrous kit to use on a turbo car is a single nossle wet kit with jetting to support a variety of HP levels. NX, NOS and ZEX all offer single nossle wet kits. You can use a dry kit however it depends on your fuel injectors for extra fuel, the same spot your turbo does and you end up with crazy high fuel pressure levels. Some fuel injctors lock up at 75psi and if this happens to you with a turbo on a dry nitrous kit, it's bye bye motor. NX kits for example come with jetting for 35 50 75 hp levels which is great for a turbo car.

Take some time to read around the nitrous forum and all this information will be available there.
