So a local kid has a rear section of his 94 N/T for sale.

I wanna know if the mufflers are the same except for the 2.5" N/T option and the 3" turbo option, and if it will just act as a big restriction.

If it will do more bad then good, im just gonna order their 3" from eBay.

Also, i have a 2.5" Burschur Turbo Back...

I want a new muffler because mine has a rust hole in it from water going down the drain hole in the hatch area. (need to change the drain hose)

sorry, il dont need the whole rear section, i just need the muffler off of it.

I should have stated that.

What is the inlet size on the muffler? If it's 2.5" then yes, it will be ok to match your 2.5" catback piping. But doesn't your busher already have a muffler? Also make sure it's straight through, you don't want baffles in your muffler unless you're worried about sound over power.

I would just get a 3" catback, it'll be better in the long run for power.

thanks again but i think we're still missing something here...

1) my muffler is OLD, I mean 8 year old exhaust system. It has a hole in it so it sounds like crap.

2) i know a local kid who has a Tsudo N1 EXHAUST with Tsudo N1 muffler for a 94 N/A that wants to sell cheap.

3) i just need the muffler off the rear section, thats it. I can cut and reweld it to my exhaust piping easily.

I just want to know if i should be using a NT muffler on my turbo car. will it be any kind of restriction?
Or should i just order a new Tusdo N1 that is meant for a Turbo car.

Hope that clarifies it a little more.

Thanks for any and all responses

a muffler is a muffler there is no such thing as a muffler for a turbo and a muffler for a non turbo

I wanna make sure cause you say that, and Apex'i says this:

Universal N1 Muffler
156-A003 Polished Turbo - 75mm inlet/115mm tip
156-A008 Polished NA - 60mm inlet/90mm tip

I appreciate all the help you guys can give me but this is just the problem i was running into before. one person says this, another says that....

I want a clear answer like, No Mike I wouldnt use that cause it would act as a restriction in a turbo car, or Yes Mike it shouldnt be a problem at all, lots of guys do it.

All that says in the "turbo" muffler has a bigger inlet and tip an the "n/a" unit. it has nothing to do with the construction of the product

i also remember looking down the canister (it is a streight thru) and seeing a 1.5-1.75 hole (bottle neck) before comming out to the 4.5 tip. i was also thinking this is the same sized hole that would mate up to the silencer if it had one. I wish someone with a Apex'i N1, or any N1 muffler could look down their muffler for me and tell me if there is a 1.75 hole that the gases come out of into the 4.5 tip. thats whats freaking me out. Everything else falls into place but that last bottleneck opening to the tip/atmosphere.

I agree. As long as it's 2.5" and there aren't any flow restrictions (i.e. it's a straight through design), you'll be fine.

Unless you're talking baffled and straight through.

Not all baffled mufflers are for N/As and not all straight through's are for turbocharged cars. It's been said before, there aren't any "turbo" mufflers and "N/A" mufflers; mufflers are mufflers.

I have an N1 muffler (Tsudo) and there is no bottleneck in it - it's 2.5" all the way through.

so VelocitàPaola, you are saying with confidence that the muffler used on a NA catback is the same muffler used on a turbo catback, minus the inlet and outlet size?

then something is wrong with this kids Tsudo muffler..

When sticking my hand down it i could only get 2 finger thru the little bottleneck opening and with my current muffler 2.5 all the way thru i can almost get my whole hand in.

Yes, I am positive. In fact, most of the Tsudo Catbacks for GS-Ts are EXACTLY the same as those for GSs and RSs. I know those are all 2G cars, but I'm using them to show you that there's no difference between N/A and turbo exhausts; the same holds true for 1Gs. Only SOME of the catbacks for turbocharged cars have a bigger pipe diameter and muffler. Like I said, most of them are exactly the same as those sold for N/As.

Are you sure the silencer isn't in on this kid's muffler? Some pictures looking straight down the muffler would be helpful right about now. You should be able to see all the way through right down to the piping.

Yeah, if you remove the silencer from the muffler in the picture, it should be 2.5" all the way through; I'm sure of this. Like I said, try to get some pictures of his specifically, I can't think of one reason why it should have any 1"-1.75" restriction like that in there.

VelocitàPaola,

I dont mean to put you out, but could you snap a quick shot tomarrow in the daylight and send it to [email protected] so i can confirm?

Im pretty sure that his is only made for NA, cause that restriction i speak of is a part of the muffler.
Its welded/cast right where the tip and the canaster are tig welded together.

Looks like this:

Ha, you're lucky. I live 1,500 miles away from my car, but I just happen to be going home tomorrow. I'll post a picture, and send you one, when I get there.

Has any one forgot to mention that it is comming off a 1g, so it would be usless for a 2g since the bends and the location of the muffler setup is totaly different.
Unless it is for a 1g that he his not talking about.:)

EDIT: unless your just going to harvest the muffler then I dont see a problem. But it would be a restriction with the 2.5 at the end while the rest of the system is 3". You could always buy an apexi universal and get a custom axle back made.

Have you read his posts? He's just using the muffler. He's cutting the muffler off of the 1G and welding it on his 2G piping.

excuse the crappy setup but the ~ are gas flow and the / and \ are the restriction before the tip.

again im so sorry!

True. If you're so unsure about this, just buy a 2.5" universal Tsudo muffler on eBay. I got mine for just $30 and there are no restrictions in it anywhere.

I'll still post a picture tomorrow.
