Ok so i have been researching N/T camshaft upgrades all day and i'm still a little lost. I have found out that 91-91 mt turbo cams are better then non turbo and that 93 are the best. THe intake is the only different one between nt and turbo. Then to throw me off completely someone said that a crower stage 3 turbo cams are like stage 1.5-2 in a n/t is there any truth to this? I ask because i want to go aftermarket and found some comp 1001200(272) for a good price and need to know will they be too much? i guess i'm just lost was there anytruth to the comparison to crower stage 3?

The 1993-1994 turbo m/t intake and exhaust cam are best. They have more duration and slightly more lift than the a/t cams. All 4g63n/t cams are the same, 252/244 duration (advertised duration). Automatic turbo cams have 244/244 duration, 1993-1994 turbo m/t cams have 252/252 duration and the slightly higher lift than all other pairs of cams. The difference between the N/T intake cam and the turbo intake cam is that the turbo cam is 5 degrees more advanced. Because the m/t turbo intake cam is more advanced this leads to more low end power because it gives the cams more overlap, but with the higher duration you keep your high end power. Swapping in 93-94 cams in a N/T will make more horsepower and torque through out almost all or the power band. Anything aftermarket might be to big and you would lose all of your low end power, unless you plan on really building up the N/T engine for drag racing.
