I've been having this problem, where I push in the clutch and the rpms drop, whether the car is in neutral or gear. It happened out of the blue one day when I had about 200 miles on my full build. Ever since then it hasn't really gotten any worse, just stays the same. I'm 1044 miles now. Sometimes when I push in the clutch the car dies, other times the rpms just drop..
This is a 1g with a fully built 6bolt, it had a ACT 2900 PP
The car also had dsmlink, when I told the dsmlink to idle off the TPS the rpms magically never dropped again, and I didn't have the problem anymore. When the car hit 800 miles I decided to downgrade a lot, the longblock stayed the same. I kept the 2900 PP in. No more dsmlink, and the car went back to dieing and rpms dropping when ever I press in the clutch. So I started to replace a bunch of stuff. Slave cylinder, pivot ball, clutch fork, throwout bearing, and installed a new 2100 instead of the 2900. Started the car up, and it does the same thing. To add to that, now my clutch engages about an inch before it reaches the top. (the clutch adjustment rod is all the way out too).
So wtf..
For you who are gonna say, "you crank took a walk!!" probably not. It's a 6bolt, now those who are gonna say "any car can crankwalk" true, but I decided to tug and push and all sorts of stuff to see of the crank would move (did all this to the flywheel) and no movement.. There's no noises.
There was tiny tiny little silver metal shaving in my oil a few times, but very few, and probably due to the fact everything in the long block is new.
And remember, when dsmlink said to idle off the TPS, I didn't have the problem.
Hey, it still could be crankwalk, I mean slowboy did build the short block, and I have gotten no help from them, all they can say is check other stuff its not crankwalk, 1gs don't die from crankwalk...
