Just got some pics of my 91 eclipse gs turno 5-speed in my gallery. she isnt looking so good right now but that will soon change. I rescued this car from a salvage yard, it was towed in due to the previous owner (a woman) thinking it was done but all it needs is a ecu and some maintnance. I have been working at getting this car for 2 years due to the title issues but finally! it is at its new home to be brought back to life. as i said not looking to hot right now but that will change.

That car looks great for being in a salvage yard! I have to admit, it looks better than the car I rescued from the crusher after years of abusive owners. But like you said, it will look better with time!

It doesn't look bad at all.
Heck looks better then my GST
All the clear coat is coming up on mine.

Fun thing about a car that needs work is you can truely make it your own,

Yeah its in decent shape, only reason it was taken to the salvage yard is because it wouldnt run right one day and the lady got a new car and just had them tow it in, i found the problem though, the battery wiring harness got mangled somehow. so hopefully it will be running in a couple weeks once i get the ecu back in it that someone stole.
in due time.

Nice work! That thing looks great for boneyard material. When you get it running you will feel like 1 million dollars, I bought the car in my profile totalled in an engine fire for $450 "Parts Car" took me 2 years to get it where its at now, still needs to be repainted again but I'm focusing under the hood right now, makes me feel good everytime i sit in the drivers seat and she fires up. I just think "no one even knows what shes been through" Makes me feel proud. The Phoenix lives! Good luck

Yep I hear that. My car was in pieces when I bought it. Ive been working on it for about 2 years also. It feels good when you know you did all the work. The only thing I hate is when something goes wrong and you see the stupid mistake you made.

Stupidest mistake was selling my built n/t laser to buy the AWD clutch and other little goodies, motor only had 1500 miles and many performance parts. That car never let me down! Now I am stuck with a car payment because I needed a car I could take far away from home and not worry about it. I cant wait to start another project car!

i paid $450 for the car which to me is a steal, i would have paid more if i had to, i just love these cars. the only reason it was towed into salvage was the problem i found last night, the wiring harness that goes from positive battery terminal to starter was chewed up, the positive cable, and 2 small ground wires blk/yellow got mangled. if it werent for the ecu being stolen out of it i would have it runnin by fixing the harness till i get a new one.

thanks for the compliments even though it still needs some work.

Well to my dissapointment after getting into the car a little bit trying to fire it it has 0 compression. after removing the valve cover i found that all 8 intake valves are stuck open about 3/8" so now im getting ready to pull the head and hope for the best. as long as the pistons are ok i think ill be just fine, valve job and a gasket and timing belt and hopefully be drivin down the road.

That hurts the pocketbook :( I hope the pistons are ok too, but probaly not likely. Good luck man, I hope you dont have to work on it for 2 years like we did to get our cars drivable. ;) Dont give up on this baby, it could be your pride and joy. :dsm:

i guess when i pull the head ill know then what the future holds, if pistons are gone then go ahead pull the engine get it build and start body work and get it in primer before the engine goes back in. wont be giving up on it, i wont rest till this thing is driving me down the road with a big smile on my face as i pass the pissy little neons and civics with nothing more than a body kit and wing on them, LOL ROFL :dsm:

I remember when i had my first car, a 91 eclipse gs turbo. Man i loved that car, it was white with a black top which always looks good. Good luck with yours man.

Well, my rescued eclipse has got some problems. Just got the head off to find 8 bent valves and pistons with some nasty gouges in them from the valves, apparantly from the way it looks the timing belt broke and they put a new one on then found the valves were bent and i could tell the head had been off, so i guess ill start the rebuild process with the head until i can get the rest of the engine out to start on it. Looks to be a long road

well, i have been working on the car for 6 months now buying parts as i got the money and doing what i could. The engine is almost done, just need few more things, waterpump, alternator, timing set along with belts and a clutch and flywheel. Has been quite a build working in a cold garage. Did a complete rebuild from top to bottom so now ill just have to keep my fingers crossed when i get the thing back in. i have uploaded some photos of the engine. Thanks to all those who gave advice.
