Hey guys. I thought I would make my first post today. My new Jack's Value AWD transmission showed up yesterday. It was packed in a U-Haul box full of foam waiting to cure my shifting woes. I pulled the old transmission last night and should have my blue beast back on the road by tomorrow. P.S. I am running Redline MTL. Here are some pics too. :talon:

looks awesome...what is their website so I could check it out, thanks

You'll love it.. I run a jack tranny and it takes lots and lots of antilag/studder launches with ease...

Yeah! Looks pretty. Let me know how you like it. I know my trans will go one day and when it does, I'd like to keep it local. And since they're about an hour away from me, I'll be glad to drive that distance if their trans are nice enough.

What stage did you get? Did you add anything special to it?

I have his Premium awd tranny in my gsx. Shifts great. After i installed it, i had problems getting it in gear, period. I finally got it to go into 2nd and 4th.......then after more time or trying the gears....it finally went in 1st and 3rd(not very easy though). 5th and reverse took the longest. I guess it just took a while to get the gear oil all over? So, dont be too awful worried if you have an issue getting it in gear at first. I tried manually(on the tranny), and it didnt help either. I just let it run for a little while and everything ended up working out.

Well, I'm getting off work soon and I will let you guys know tomorrow how it goes... I can't wait. I got the 'Value' rebuild which seems like it would be comparable to a Shep Stage 2 or so. I ordered it how it comes on the site (www.jackstransmissions.com) Lots of new parts and a 4 spider center w/ Torrington!

i run a jacks and love it as well
plus im happy to see such a great guys business growing

The premium should be pretty sweet. I got it installed but I need to finish putting the last few parts back on and adjust the shift linkage before she is ready for the street. I'm out of town this weekend, but I should be able to finish it up on Monday and get back on the street. I miss my Talon  and it is my DD. I am out of space to post more pics on the site. Is there a good site to post pics?

Im also running a Jacks Transmission in my 97 awd.

I couldnt be happier. I spent a good amount of time on the phone with him every other day during my build.
HE answered all my questions and more.

Quite a stand up guy I must say. Jack is a no bullshit character who knows his work.

Sheps good but his prices are out-dated, and turn around time is horrible.

TRE is just...well....They got alot going on over there.

Jacks is where every (average) dsm'er should go. His prices are perfect. His quality is second to none.

- The first day out with the tranny was a very exciting. It felt as solid as a video game.
The first 1000 miles were stiff. When you go into each gear for the first time after the build, it may take some patience and pressure.

Second and 5th gear were the stiffest of the bunch. I never fourced it into place, but I had to keep a solid pressure, holding in the clutch, while varying the rpms at an accurate mph cruise to get it to fall in the gate.

Now with 2,000 plus on the tranny I can put it in gear with 1 finger, but shift it hard and fast with no mercy!

I'll try to get some pictures put up and I am still so excited. Before I decided to go with Jack's, I talked to Jon over at TRE for a couple of hours and he seemed like a really knowledgeable guy, I was just worried about him being hard to get a hold of. I'm sure that either would have been great. I am happy that I went with Jack's. It's nice to see other people are happy with their transmissions from Jack.

they put them to the test before they are shipped out...through their reliability machine...haha..

haha??

Indeed he does. He still made sure I knew it was going to be stiff as hell when I got it back. I asked how long...he said about 500 miles.

Still even though they run run em before shipping it was still moderately difficult to get into gear for the first few times. Although I was running a new clutch and flywheel, and yes, it was adjusted accordingly before the first time out.

Took my first test drive last night. It shifted smooth and didn't feel too notchy or anything. I did the clutch test that he recommends to do (Putting the car in first, rev the engine up to 7000 RPM and see if the car moves forward) The car started moving forward at 6000 or so. I need to do some fine tuning tonight and see if I can resolve the problem. Also, it is a little hard to get into first gear and reverse. It almost wants to grind and I'm sure that the clutch is dragging a little bit. Anyway the install went well and the trans feels great. :)
