Edit to this post: The peopel at DSA motorsports ripped me off, gutted my car and tried to sell it. They took my 3150 and ran. Jerks, just getting my car back and its all stripped :(

I haven't posted in a long time, mainly because I blew the motor in my car and its been hell trying to get everything back together right... (about 8 months down now)
For anyone who cares... I have a 95 Talon AWD w/ a 99 eclipse body kit on it (see photos).
I blew the motor runnin 20lbs on a 14b turbo, Im pretty sure I had it leaned out too much on my AFC.
I was looking for a 12.2 timeslip so this is what we did (will be done in 2-3 weeks :D )...
6bolt motor, clevite rods, ross pistons, balanced/blueprinted. 1G head rebuilt, basic port and polish, Cometic head gasket, ARP bolts. :shhh:
OBX exhaust manifold w/ waistgate, 38mm tail wastgait, 47 trim T3 XS power turbo, OBX front mount intercooler, 680cc PTE injectors, DSM link ECU managment, AEM wideband O2. :shhh:
The good (but expensive) people at DSA motorsports here in Houston are putting this thing together for me... everything has cost me about $9,000 to this point.

Any thought? lookin for a 12.2 or better, think I'll hit it? If I dont I'm gonna go up to a 60 trim after this summer. :p

I FREAKIN CANT WAIT TO GET MY CAR AND WAX SOME V8s AGAIN!!!

lates :dsm:

Why'd you choose to balance and blueprint the engine though? Isn't that more for die-hard racing engines? And how much did the balancing/blueprinting run you?

If you have the OBX side to side FMIC, I'd love to see how the pipes were routed and what size was used. Good luck :thumb: :dsm:

Ok,

With the motor build they told me they would balance the crank and rotating assembly for $200. Blueprinting was free (basic blueprinting I suppose).
I went with it because I am looking to turn 9k RPM when I get the 1G head rebuilt (stage 2--down the road), and have a galant 5th gear put in... I know this sounds crazy but at 9k, on a galant 5th speed that is 202MPH :D .

Dont think it will do 200 but its nice to say that it has the gear ratio to do it if I was ever insane enough to try.

The OBX exhaust mani and XS Power turbo are indeed cheap, but I went with them because they were less than half the price and I know of at least 2 other DSMs running that setup doing just fine for 10k miles now or so. They are running I beleive high 11s and low 12s. So basically Im going to assume they are not as bad as people make them out to be... they guy at the DSM shop here knows his stuff and he says they are really bad ass stuff... not as inferior to other brands as people make them out to be.

As for the FMIC fabrication... he is just using 3" to 2" reducers I beleive and running 2" piping. To be honest I really dont know how he is going to do it, but he had a 1st gen with the same intercooler that he had just finished up so... obviosly with some injeniuty it can be done. I'll get picks when the job is done.

Their site is... http://www.diamondstarauto.com/home , they are going to put up picks of my car when the motor is installed, so check it out and if ur from Houston or in the area I personally highy reccomened Diamond Star Automotive.

Thanks,
later everyone

Because the car you looking at in his gallery is not the same car we're talking about in this thread, it is the yellow car. The maroon car is his "old" car.

Thats my old car. I sold it for my now yellow AWD turbo...

I still loved my 420A Talon, it was fun and never broke :) . I drive a BMW M3 daily driver which is nice... but im getting married this summer so I'll prolly get another 420A for a second daily driver for my self and let her drive the BMW (she loves that car, prolly more than the Eclipse -- Ive told her shes crazy but it is am M3 so im not going to protest too much)

Yea I know that...I was just wondering.

What size core are you using for your intercooler?

Good question... I dont know the dimensions off hand... Ill look them up real fast, i do know tho that it is 3" inlets.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=7954941224&rd=1

Dimensions - 23" wide (31" with endtanks), 11.75" tall, 3" thick

Endtanks diameter - 3"

I ordered it off ebay... thats what it says, I was told it was actually a very good intercooler and for $275 if u can custom fabricate your own piping (I know how, but I suck so I let a professional do it) .. its a heck of a buy.

12.2 or better? i hope u do because 9,000 is more than enought to run low 12s.

I know guys running 12.5s with like 3k into there engines (evo 16g)...How much did u pay for the XS turbo?

For 9k I hope you are in the 11s. TUNE TUNE TUNE and you will be there :thumb:

hey mangold...i like how you kept the talon door cap with the 2gb eclipse sides...thats cool...i was wondering how it would look when i did my previous conversion! :thumb:

If they are the ones from ebay then it is sold in a kit for about $750. The kit includes the 50 trim, tubular t3/t4 mani with 38mm waistgate, and blitz style super sound bov. Not a bad deal.

By the way I was only answering a question, lets not get this thread closed with... "my buddy bought this ssautochrome manifold and it sucked der her her..."

The XS Power Turbo with Tail 38mm waitsegait, OBX exhaust mani and a Blitz BOV (Im still gonna use my HKS) ran me about $880 w/ shipping. So yes its a great deal as long as it holds up... should though.

The other stuff is what killed me... AEM wideband 02 was like $455...

The 9k also inludes other stuff like: Cross Drilled/Slotted Brembo rotors w/ AXIS brake pads, sway bar bushings, painting the engine bay to match the new paint job, and a new DSM link ECU ($450)

So.. now I have some stuff for sale, if anyone is interested message me...

old parts, stock t25 w/ exhaust mani but no O2 pipe(i already sold my 14b), Apexi AFC, HKS Boost controller, a Blitz BOV and stock intercooler, HKS upper and lower IC piping for SMIC, stock 2g head - works but could use a rebuild, stock warped brake calipers :p , and a bunch of other broken crap ... if u need a part let me know, I'll sell everything except the HKS Boost controller and AFC real cheap...
