After running open downpipe for a few years, I finally decided to buy an exhaust. I didn't want to spend alot of money so I decided to put together a budget 3" turbo-back.
I started off with an ebay 3" stainless DP and an ebay 3" stainless catback.....makin it work was another story.
The catback out of the box:
The downpipe bolted up:
When I installed the catback, everything fit ok, but half of the hangers were way off. The worst part was that the pipe that bolts to the back of the downpipe was pointed down at the ground at a 35 degree angle....obviously a problem. So I cut the flange off the back of the pipe and turned it, to angle the pipe up where it needed to be.
The flange after being cut and tacked in place:
After tackling that problem, I had to come up with a way to attach the catback to the DP. There was about an inch and a half gap between the two pipes. Also the catback necked down to 2 1/4" to bolt to the stock cat, and since I wanted full 3 inch.....I cut out all the restrictions.
The way the exhaust was looking before I modified it:
So I bought a section of stainless pipe and a stainless V-band clamp:
This is the exhaust after I finished it:
Installed:

What do you guys think?
