This was me up against some dude with a Typhoon truck and I killed it! :) Not only was he asleep at the light but I got the better time too. I'm pretty proud of my 60ft for a "stock" AWD DSM, but I obviously have no top end.

Also, this is at Bandimere Speedway Colorado at 5800ft above sea level. I believe the Density Altitude for that day was 8700, if I'm calculating it correctly. Barometer 23.1, 0 humidity and 68'f.

P.S. Does anyone want to host this pic for me, I can't seem to get it to work on my brothers server and I don't want people to think my time is fraudulent.

That's a good kill to out run a typhoon. Those things can get nasty, real quick with just a little bit of money.

You are seriously lacking in the top-end department. Even to be bone stock it seems kind of wierd that you only trapped 87 in the 1/4. You sure that everything is working correctly in that car?

Anyway, nice run, still not a bad time to be bone stock.

I think the lack of top end is due to the high elevation (5800ft), I was running around the same times as the other "stock" DSMs. To give you an idea of how bad it is up here, brand new WRXs (not the STIs) only run around 15.00

I know that my compression is a little low, would that be slowing me down on the topend though? Maybe I didn't nail my shifts as well as I should have either. My tranny is soooo notchy!

I feel you with the tranny issue. Mines the same way. I can have it in first and let it go and the shifter will look like it's in third. I have to basically force it into second also after a hard launch. I am pretty sure that my 2nd gear syncro should be going out soon.

So what should I do to get some more top end and make it into the 14's? Just up the boost to 14 instead of 12? Or will a real intake and a downpipe to go with the rest of the exaust do without more boost? Or both?

I think my goal is to run a flat 14, any faster and I will be in a whole new class where I run at Bandimere. If I can run that consistently I will be one of the fastest in the class and be able to take some real wins.

Wth that flat 14 I'll also be able to beat the stock WRX(non-Sti) and the SRT-4 pocket rockets which would be nice. They run about 14.5 up here.

if your still running the stock intake, get a nicer intake. try to find one with a water bypass valve so water wont be able to get into the engine. A downpipe will help, but get the intake first. and dont frget, nothing beats practice.

Disregard this advice as those systems don't work well at all in the first place and there's virtually no place for one on a turbo intake pipe anyways. Stick with the basic power upgrade path on this site. It's a real good start. Good luck with it as I'm sure making more power can become very frustrating up there.

Personally I'd start with a re-wired stock fuel pump, mbc at 15psi, and an exhaust. That'll get you running pretty good for the dollar. Of course check the stock sidemount for boost leaks around the ic inlet and outlet. They often get small pinholes in them that will leak and cause the car to run richer than need be.

Are you upshifting to 4th gear in a stock talon in the 1/4mile? When my talon was stock I pulled a 15.1 at 87mph when I shifted into 4th. But if I held it in 3rd and drove it through the 1/4mile (redline 3rd around 7000-7100 rpm), I got 92mph with a 14.9, try that next time. Altitude doesn't really effect turbo cars that much only naturally aspirated.

You should first master your technique, than start moding. You should be getting 1.8 60 foot times with an AWD DSM. Another thing judging by your timeslip is your not shifting that fast are you LOL. Well, fast shifting will get better times, but more wear on the tranny. Anyway bottomline is, improve your skills, than go mod your car. Once you become consistant, you will see the improvements of your mods better.

Thanx for the advice guys, but I think the biggest problem is just the altitude. I tried all different kinds of launches and that was the best 60ft time I could get. I think I just don't have the power to move and faster because I didn't have any wheelspin or bog for that matter and I didnt ride the clutch too much either. My friends in the stands said the launch was perfect.

I'll try again in the spring, maybe the conditions will be more favorable and I'll have some money for a downpipe and an intake.
