My 4G63 SL-R

I've been extremely busy these past few months.

I actually just got the roll cage, display and gas pedal delivered today. I'm They are nothing special but I'll have the pics up later this evening.

Once I can get a couple projects finished, I'll get to foucs on the SL-R. Shouldn't take to too long to get everything put together .... in theory :D

Saw the thread title and thought someone was droping a 4G63 in a Mercedes Benz, but this is AWESOME. Just the other day i was thinking the 'ol power to weight ratio thing and thought how cool it would be to have an old '32 roadster, but with a 4G in it. This tops that. Sweet project, good luck and keep it coming!
That's what I thought when I opened it! haha

I wish cool projects like this were going on in AZ.

sweet! do these com pre-wired for your engine choice or is it something you need to configure yourself? If its something you need to do yourself PM me for a sweet deal and help on getting your build rolling even faster.

I haven't done much of anything with the car itself. I've started the block assembly but then the whole project got derailed trying to get my 2g to the track once before winter set in. Since then, I've taken on quite a few other projects that keep me out of the cold garage (I'm orig from Houston, I hate the cold!)

I'm just finishing putting together a DVD for the Video I made of last year's shootout. It will contain a bunch of footage that I couldn't squeeze into youtube's 15min limit. The DVD will be avail via mail for a small price (shipping, envelope, dvd) or free via download (burn it to dvd yourself).

I did get some more parts for SL-R that I haven't put on the websites. I hope to resume the project in earnest next month, at the latest.

You can purchase the car pre-assembled, thus pre-wired, but outside of that, they do not provide a wiring harness. I just purchased a 91 talon wiring harness from Chris last month that I hope will do the job.

The plan is to wire everything up and make sure everything is ok. Then strip whats unnecessary and re-bundle. Honestly, I'm not looking forward to the wiring part at all.

Hey I sent you a PM, but I just wanted to say that that is the coolest DSM compilation video I have ever seen! I haven't been to the shootout since '05 but seeing that video makes me want to drive the 26 hours it takes to get there (well, almost...). As soon as your DVD is ready let me know and I'll buy one!

Nice! For those of you saying he needs more power/AWD etc... you dont. That thing will haul even with only 300hp. Please do something with that silly aluminum thing on the front is that supposed to be a wing?

Street tires will probably a waste of time on that thing look into some R-dot tires and some better dampers. We run goodyear 2696's on our FSAE car.

Cool chassis, never seen it before. I wonder how it'll do against a Caterham?

With as light as that car will be, especially in the front, you'll probably need some real race tires on that thing, not just street rubber.

Also, what's with the aluminium box under the front nose? Never seen anything like that on a race car, doesn't look very aerodynamic. Can they design a splitter to direct air around whatever that is, like a formula car would have?

The odd aluminum thing caught my attention too. My first thought was, "that's an ugly splitter."

I doubt this can compare to a Caterham though, given the same engine setup of course. Realistically speaking it'll probably be close enough but I think the differences would show in hardcore racing. Not that a smaller company is always inferior to a larger one, but Caterhams are a derivative of a Lotus design and they're lighter. I think Super Sevens are better looking too.

Even if it isn't a Seven I'm damn jealous. I like open track cars. 300hp will be awesome with that lightweight chassis.

And just for kicks and giggles,
