I found a 105k mile Talon TSI awd Auto for 2k and talked him down to 1600. Im super stoked to be back in a DSM, and after owning a 5spd car and replacing my trans a number of times, its a relief to have an auto..

So far ive fixed the following:
Eliminated all the noisy creaks in the interior by tightening down the spare tire and removing the luggage cover. I also fixed steering wheel vibration by re-tightening by hand all four wheels. It was at this point that I came to the conclusion I had purchased a very neglected car. Nonetheless, I had an idea it was going to be a money pit anyways.

So far I'm going to have to work on phasing the balance shafts and replacing the timing belt. The transmission is FUBAR, and I'm pretty sure I'll have to look for another one, since I have no idea how to work on an automatic transmission other than a few shift kit installs. The car made it home with the transmission slipping in 1st and 2nd and i got 30 mpg! I guess pulling the pan in next on the agenda since adding 2qts disabled any motion no matter if I chose 1st, 2nd, or D. If it needs something I can do I'm always up to the challenge, but I have a feeling I'll be taking it to a transmission shop to have the trans rebuilt.

Other than that I have some long-term plans to throw a front-mount, E16G, ECU-link lite, and a 2 1/2" exhaust... As far as cosmetic, I want to throw a 97 wing on it and possibly a gb front.

time to work more hours! :ohdamn:

Isn't that kind of a downgrade? i dunno, i have had and driven many 1g cars and they have nothing compared to the feel of a 2g as far as cornering. I do think the 1st gens are a more solid car though, and 1g's are super comfortable on long trips...
