first off, i'm a noob, so i can't post in any of the other forums, and i can't find any post that relate to my issue in the search, however i have tried. maybe i overlooked something? as for the issue.
i have a 95 GST, and i'm having quite a few problems with my car. someone wired up a safc in the car before i bought it, and it was "rigged" up. the wires were just wrapped around the others, and was electrical taped. anyway, i bought the car not running well, so i figured if i deleted the safc, and soldered the wires back the way they should be, it would work right. needless to say, it didn't work. anyway when i crank the car, it goes to 20lbs of vacuum instead of 0lbs of boost. the maf does have power and ground coming into it, as well as the ecu, but the car runs better when i unplug the maf. i went today to have the ecu scanned considering i got a cel, and i got problems P0100 which is the maf code, P0105 also the maf code, and P0110 which is intake air temp. alot of the post i've read though said it could be my ecu, or my maf. i cant afford to replace both, and my local scrap yards don't convientently have any turbo eclipses around. however they have PLENTY of 2g N/a's laying around. if anyone can help me trace down the problem, i would be greatly appreciative.

So no worries with my ecu? The car does usually crank and drive, just bucks and backfires. And what about my boost gauge not reading 0lbs?

1. Though not related, is this a GST or a GSX, your profile says GSX your post says GST. It will be important to specify that properly in your profile for future issues.

Anyway, if they had an SAFC in it, there had to be a reason, so let's start with the injectors, they are most likely not stock, do you know what size injectors are in there?

The bucking and backfiring is definitely a symptom of too large injectors with no way to adjust for them. Also your car should be in vacuum when it is cranking and just idling.

GST. As stated in my post. GSX was my old car when i started this site years ago, notice my join date. But injectors are stock. I think the guy just thought he could get alittle more cheap power from the car? He only had the power, ground, and maf wires hooked up even, so idk, so i need help from some1 who does....

Know anyone with a 2G that you can borrow their MAF to just see what happens?

I just don't think it's time to say it was definitely the MAF. My friend had a 98 GST that he installed a GReddy Profec B on and because of poor boost control causing a leak, his car was running like junk, but ran better with the MAF unplugged, so it is not a guarantee that this is a MAF issue.

I think your best bet at this point is do the basic checks, compression, boost leak and exhaust leak checks, and maybe try a different MAF just to see what happens.

Any check engine lights?

Twenty inches of vacuum is normal with stock cams. Your MAF is bad, any Galant V6 should have the same MAF; the number is 609 (up to 1999). Like the other respondents I would check the reason behind why the other owner needed to run a SAFC.

Good info so far, I don't see the problem

Are the injectors blue? Is the BOV recirculated?
There was a reason for the SAFC being hooked up, ie to compensate for alterations of the car

definatley look into why the safc was in the car, check the injectors. 2gs have blue caps.

also for the maf, i belive that also some sealths gt3000s also used the 2g maf, 055 is another number for them

^^^+2. As far as the safc goes, just make sure you have the stock 450cc injectors. Mines came with one and had stock injectors in it. Just check basics, and also try to find a cheap MAF or borrow one from a friend.

Yes the check engine light is on, i gave the numbers in my first post. The injectors are not the stock ones as i thought. They are precision turbo injec. But i dont know the size. It looks like it says 12846? If i hook the safc back up, how can i set it? Bc it ran the same in the car as it does out of it? Only other mod is a greddy bov and it is recirculated.

Not sure how I missed the codes, sorry.

You might not have a bad MAF after all. Your car cannot tell that those are no longer 450CC injectors so it is trying to adjust for fuel consumption based on what it is reading from your O2 sensor, and then as it gets further readings, it looks like the car is running rich, but it cannot figure out why, so it could be thinking it is getting bad information from the MAF. Step one would be to get some 450s in there, or wire the SAFC in correctly and adjust the numbers. Then go from there.

I dont know much about a safc, except how 2can go through and change settings. Like i dont know the correct #'s or nething, and idk what i can get 450alittle injectors from, what would be a common car that would interchange?

Can probably pick up a set here for $50.00 to $75.00. Most DSMers end up going bigger sooner or later and have them sitting around for sale.

I just realized the gibberish my phone was posting. Lol

K. So i have the safc hooked up, and done right. Settings are at 4cyl, arrow up, Karmon sensor is selected. It reads(all idling results) kar 3hz, throttle 100%, rev is around 770, cor(whatever that is) 0.0%, knk is 0x. But it does run better now that its hooked up, and done right. Still boggs and backfires though, but if easing into throttle it drives fine.

Also, each injector has a different # on it? Starting on # 4cyl each #injector is 12809 12847 12846 12863, does that mean anything?

There would be identifying numbers on top of the injector body. Pull the injector clip off and should be able to rotate the injector around to record the number

Example would be 17113742

Pics of the injectors would be awesome. But whatever number is on them plus any writing (Such as Denso, FIC, RC, etc).

And of all these posts, I didn't see anybody suggest a boost leak test. I would definitely look into that as well. Also, 20 in/hg at idle is perfect vacuum.

Got it covered. :p

^ :D Ah, did not see that there. My apologies.

OP- Did you ever perform a boost leak test?

17113814 would be the #. 680cc i believe

Yes on the boost leak test

Can some1 help me set the safc based on the injectors, and it has a warlboro 255. No other writing on the injectors other than precision turbo injectors

No one? I atleast want 2 get the car running enough 2 get it 2 jacksonville which is an hour and a half from me so i can get it tuned correctly.

Not everyone knows how use the SAFC including me but I can give you links
Apexi Super AFC For The Eclipse/EVO
RRE's Super AFC Setting and Adjustment Tips

Tuners also has at least two more tuning articles on the SAFC

The 255 fuel pump is a little overpowering for the stock regulator, and you may need to get that fixed. Extremepsi.com has a couple bolt on regulator kits for less than $200

Found the MAIN problem. The person i got it from had the fuel pump straight wired to run with the key on. So the pump was running nonstop from time the key was turned on.
