i was on my way to work and the traffic was moving at around 70mph on fast lane. when i moved over one lane to the left to pass a slow gardener truck, the mustang gt convertable that was on the right of me cuts two lanes and gets right behind me with his emergency blinkers on. the gt had a full body kit and blue headlights and blinkers. the gt had one passanger and they both looked about 18-21yrs old. there was a clear 50-70ft ahead so we went. it was from about 65-110, i pulled about 1.5-2 cars on him. i eased off at 110 let him catch up so i can take a look at him, but then he zooms by. i took my win and i just watched him go take off around at 100mph.. then the gt after passing about 2-3cars (at this point probably reached around 110mph) gets scared by some van trying to switch lanes and slams the breaks.. there was a lot of tire smoke, it nearly made his car disappear, then he spun out and hit a truck that was on the other lane. his body kit was flying everywhere and i saw him slowly pull over to the side with few other cars that was affected by the accident. i looked at him as i was passing by the scene, but he didnt look at me..

i have two questions:
1. was that really a gt? can a gs-t w/intake exhaust uicp bov pull on a gt?
2. would you have stopped to see how the gt was doing?

thanks for reading :thumb:

it looked like 99 model. he looked like he had no mods, maybe an intake, definatly no exhaust

how much are you boostin?

I raced a 99GT , had a kit and wheels to make it look like a SVT Cobra.

I was only able to hold him off to 105mph, where he pulled 1-2CL's on my GST.

the 95-98 gt's must be the biggest turds ever. I raced my friend when he had his 98 gt and I beat him by 1.5-2 cars from a stop when I only had the injen intake on my car. A month later he traded his car in for a 98 cobra.

I looked for info on a GT conv:

Car-Stats.com Report for 2001 Ford Mustang GT (conv)
Obtained from C&D May, 2001
0-60: 6 Transmission: Automatic
1/4 Mile: 14.7
1/4 Speed: 96

I also pulled up your car:

Car-Stats.com Report for 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T
Obtained from MT June, 1994
0-60: 7.4 Transmission: Automatic
1/4 Mile: 15.5
1/4 Speed: 90

I don't know how accurate these stats are, but they are close on 1g's.
Hope this helped.

ya back when I had my 96 GST 5spd with those exact same mods, I ran across a 01or so Mustang Gt drop top that seemd to have exhuast or something. Me and him raced from a 35-45 roll or so and had it in 3rd gear. With my former girlfriend in the car he only put about a car to a car and a half on me. That was when i was running about 12psi but spiked to 14psi on i think 91octane.

Those are times for an automatic GS-T.
Here are some 5-speed times, but from a Talon TSI FWD(same thing).

0-60: 6.4
1/4 Mile: 15.1
1/4 Speed: 94

From www.car-stats.com as well.

1/4 Speed: 92

I raced a 2003 gt with flowmasters when I had intake and mbc set at 15psi. from a roll I crept forward a little bit but from a stop he pulled considerably. They tested a auto gt 2003 at 14.1@95 or so. With what you had a vert gt would be a even match if it was stock but with the body kit Im sure drag wasnt helping him so thats why you pulled.

Depending the year of the car...Convertable Mustangs are like Spyders in that if you are automatic your car comes with less hp. The auto Spyder GS-T has 205 hp.....So if the GT had a auto it is easy to see why you would win. Hell though the manual isn't even that fast.

00+ mustang GT(Bullet? it had gunmetal wheels & that stock hood scoop) vs my spyder = He pulled a car in the HWY from 45 roll(more low end) I caught up even around 70 & passed him around 100. I was at 18psi on the T25/intake & bov only mods. Close race I passed him by a nose. Not even enough for him to see my hazard lights. DAMN

98 convertable Mustang GT vs my spyder. I lick it up, down side to side & gave him the thumbs down. SUCKA! :thumbdown My mods: same as above.
