I just bought a 1997 eclipse gst and love it, i recently went to the track with a buddy. He has an all stock 1995 Mustang GT auto. ran mid 15's
I ran high 15's, i always thought a DSM should beat a 5.0 mustang.... Im new to this DSM stuff but it feels like theres not much pull up top.....
Any ideals on why i cant beat his mustang, i think the turbo might be going out, pulls very strong and than just dies out almost, werid?
1997 bone stock auto GST lowmiles
thanks

is your car in fact auto? if not and you are on the stock turbo, do a boost leak test, put in the highest unleaded fuel you can get, and dont shift over 6k because the t2small isnt making any power after that, make sure you stick a good launch as well, that will help you in the long run.

got any timeslips? post em up and we may be able to help you in whatever area you are slacking

Like has been mentioned, you may have boost leaks, so a boost leak test is a good idea. Though most of the loss of power you feel in the upper rpms is more then likely due to the tiny stock T25 turbo that came with the 2g's. They are just to small to keep up with the flow demands in the upper rpms. The 14b's that came stock on the 1g's work much better in the upper rpms, then ofcourse there are a tonn of other turbo upgrades that will net you more to much much more, uptop power. If this is something you want to upgrade, read through the upgrade guides (such as the one on this site) to see what all is needed to support a larger then stock turbo.

The stock auto will be abit of a slug & being your fwd, you won't get the jump off the line like an awd would. If you happened to have and awd, standard car, you probably wouldn't have much trouble taking out that mustang, stock for stock.
