Meridian,
i want ot put a 2 step on my talon for track purposes, seems its either care about my ET and not my R/T., or vise versa, id like to have both. i think th 2 step would make it easier. but would the plain msd 2 step work on our cars? im talkin about the $90 one through jegs or summit.

I'm not sure which 2 step you are talking about, all the ones I know of are either on the msd box, or an add on to one. A link to Jegs or Summit or better yet the MSD site would be helpful here.

I would just save the $ and put it towards a chipped eprom. Then you have the 2 step feature along with other features the msd part wont give you.

The MSD softtouch rev limiter will work, but you need TWO of them, on the .PDF downloaded instructions found below, you can see that the device allows for 2 triggered inputs, but only 1 neg output (our cars have 2 coils). Compare these instructions for the soft touch rev limit:

http://www.msdignition.com/pdf/8728_frm 23783 .pdf

to these insturctions of the DIS 2:

http://www.msdignition.com/pdf/6211_6215_frm23729.pdf

to see what Im talking about, also the 2nd set of instructions are for the DIS 2 or DIS 4, the DIS 2 only has 2 trigger and 2 output wires, where the DIS 4 has 4 triggers and 4 outputs (as the diargam states).

Ideally it would be much easier and cheaper for you to go the DSMchip or similar or just buy a DIS 2 or AEM equivilant.

Unless you have DSMLink, there's no way to control timing advance without the MSD, no EPROM gives you full control of timing advance/retard, and a better spark all at once, so the MSD would still be useful after you figure out how you need to set it.

We were talking about a msd 2 step which also has no timing control. He would have timing control of some sort wih a dis2 or a btm, but not with just the 2step. Do your homework on what does what before you quote me. :nono:
