OK so here is the story of my dsm. I have a 91 eagle talon tsi, running a big 16g. Jst Fnished replacing the front main gasket and carnkshaft seal to stop a major oil leak. So we were driving along and the car completly beeped and cut off. The radio, windows, headlights, and the hazards were really dim. The car would not start when we tried to jump it, just kept cranking. So we got it home and replaced the alternator ### it failed auto zones test. That still did not work. I then found out the 80A fuse blew. When we replaced that i got power back to everything i mentioned above. Yet the motor will still not turn over and start up, just keeps cranking away. We checked all spark plugs and ran the test where you pull tem out and ground them while trying to start the car. They all produced a healthy spark. We checked all ground wires and plugs everything checked out. I noticed i couldnt hear the stock fuel pump power up and hum for a second like it use to but not sure if im too deafh now to hear it. We will be tearing the fuel pump up tomorrow and see if thats it. ( might as well upgrade). If you possible know what the problem is please help. Also the beep was the same as when you put the keys in the ingnition.

I googled how to check the mpi and it saying that I should hear to clicks when I turn the ignition to "on" and "start". Is this correct? Also the car started to stutter when accelerating before it failed to run.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But, you won't hear the fuel pump turn on unless you crank the car. Simply turning the ignition won't do it, you have to crank it.

And have you checked if you are getting power to the fuel pump, and also if there is fuel pressure at the rail?

If you lack power, obviously a fuse (or something along those lines) is blown, if you have power, the pump is shot.

And, since you were just in the timing side of the engine, are you sure you got the tension set correctly and it didn't jump time?

Another thing that I am wondering is if that 80A fuse popped from a short and possibley something else is fried. Is it possible for you positive post on your battery to bump the hood? Is the batter tied down or loose?

Well I checked a few things today and the timing is where it should be and the mpi relay is still working. Would there be Alot of pressure in the return line after trying to start the motor? Because we disconnected the return line from the fpr and there was no pressure at all.

Well I picked up a walbro 190 today. I'll be installing it sometime this week. Hopefully this is the problem, if not then I'm lost. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. :banghead:

well still no luck with a new fuel pump. It doesnt seem like the pump is getting power. I checked the mfi/mpi and it is fine. Is the relay for the pump behind the battery? Im going to try switching out the 30 amp relay with a 30 amp switch to see it that will fix the problem if not then yet another failed attempt. Please help. :banghead:

Ok I'm giving up and bringing the car to a shop. It's getting spark, fuel, the timing is good, and compression is good. Before I take it in, any other ideas?

The car is getting fuel, spark, and the timing is good yet no start. Will any sensors keep the car from starting? For example the oil pressure sensor, cam angle sensor or anything to do with the coolant? When I go to start the car the coolant warning light stays on. Also before the car cut out the oil pressure gauge was reading low/not working.
