I'm bidding on a set of solid prothane motor mounts(not the insert kind, a full replacement). all I can find is inserts at all the vendors, so I have no clue what this is worth(mind, it comes pressed into the mounts, so all 4 come with.) mine are 154k, and are totally shredded. the auction ends in 8 hours, so a prompt response would be very welcome :)

thanks!!

also anyone who knows who sells a similar product please post it up! thx

So your the jackass who took the auction over $100 thanks :thumb: They will be mine

PS: He told me the mounts are out of a awd manual trans so that would be the only car they will drop directly into. If you have a auto or a fwd you can still use these mounts but some you might have to put the actually red prothane mount into yor stock mount.

hehe i've got it up to $200, if you want to spend more than that they're yours!

and of course its awd manual, is there any other way to go? :)

So basically you're paying for inserts that someone else had put in because you are too lazy to do it yourself  WTF just buy the inserts it's the samething

I installed prothanes on my last dsm and its a mother ####er without a press. Took me at least 4 hours. I'd rather buy them already put in so i dont have to do it myself again.

You can't use a c-clamp and 2 blocks of wood?

I dont see how thats possible. When i did it, I cut the race of the mount with a hack saw then used a chisel and a hammer to beat it out. Please explain how you did this with 2 pieces of wood and a c-clamp.

I thought you were talking about it took you 4 hours to press the inserts in, in which case you can use the c-clamp as sort of a press. The race often has to be cut out and is a big pain in the ass, I agree.
I should probably do a writeup on it as no one else has.

all i've seen is an insert which goes on each side(the outsides) of the &&$#ed up stock rubber...i can't find one designed for removing the stock material, only for padding around it.

and no there are no writeups(which i could find) for the replacement procedure using new replacement rubber(poly) with the old mounts(metal part). i did find a nice guide for using a cutting board to patch the holes though

well, since i lost the auction, if anyone sends me a link on where to buy the whole replacement poly(please post instead of PM so everyone can find it, I know I couldn't!), NOT just the inserts, I'll post a nice how-to :) fyi i'm not a lazy bastard, this is just the only thing I could find other than the inserts!!!!

thx,
~E

The Prothane mounts like in that auction are sold everywhere even on ebay for like $80 shipped. 3 of them are full replacements no stock rubber in the mount, but the front has inserts on each side so it must be in good condition. No there arent any writeups for installed them but if you have time, a hack saw, a big hammer and a few chisels it can be done in a couple hours.

You wont find anyone selling full replacement aftermarket motor mounts with the actual metal mount included or assembled unless its a stock replacement and those run about $40 a piece so you decide whats best for you.

We both lost the auction so, :notgood: ####

you people are crazy for paying that much for motor mounts. i payed 70 and some change for mine and had them pressed for like 20 bucks. its still a pain in the ass to put the one in the back in no mater what you do. so have fun spending your 200 bucks while i payed 100. :thumb:

eclipse :dsm: talon :talon: laser :laser:

i did this to my laser about a month ago. i pulled the old mounts put them in a vice heated the outside metal and took a air chisle to it . i know it sound like alot but once i got it the mount out of the car it took 15 mins or less to take out a factory mount insert. there really is no need to paying 225$ for motor mounts thats insane OMG . and if anybody wants a good price on these summit racing is were i bought mine lke 70 or 75 shipped i think. if anybody wants more info on installation or on the inserts themsevles let me know
