97k miles.
Recently I just did a tune up, includes wires, plugs and oil.
Recent timming belt job done I don't know when.
When I first got the car it did run but not very well. It would idle about 500- 400 and die unless I gave it gas. The guy said it was just a tps sensor. I replaced the tps sensor and right now it is at 12%, should be at 10% ( can that make the car run like shit even though it's 2% off?)
After I adjusted the tps to 12% it still didn't run that good but did idle fine. It would still hesitate like it would hit a wall at different types of rpms and the only time it wouldn't hit a wall if I feathered the throttle up and down up and down to get it up to speed. Recently I patched my cracked manifold ( waiting for my new one to come ) and my buddy david said that I needed to change out my o2 sensor ( waiting for my new manifold). So while I'm waiting I decided to do a maf silencer delete and check my coilpack if it was preforming correctly. After I did this it started idling high around 1500rpms and when I turned the a/c on it would idle 1000rpms (before I checked the coilpack and deleted the maf silencer) the car would idle at 600 and with a/c at 400. My question is lately it has been smelling horrible once the car got warmed up and my buddy said that my CAT could be clogged but I find it hard to believe that such a small thing could make a significant difference on my car. Would you guys have any ideas? And if someone lived locally enough maybe we could meet up and help me give the car a proper look over and compression test because I'm not really mechanically inclinded I just lack tools and knowledge of that kind of stuff.
So please give any input. I still haven't had the chance to do a proper compression test because the one I got has a leak in it and is broke.

Please, don't link me to that. I need smiliar eperience opinions and not vfaq, i've read threw it and it's no help.

AutoZone carrys compression testers for around $20.

I highly doubt that this is a compression problem.
But to do the test.
Remove all the spark plugs.
Disable Ignition, Disable Fuel.
INstall tester. Hold WOT.
Crank for around 3-5 secs.
Do this to each cyl.
SHould be all 10-15% close to each others compression.
CHeck Spec. for psi.

Alright, I'ma rent a volt meter and compression test I'm going to check my isc and my compression.

compression doesnt sound like that your thread is hard to follow what have you done, sounds like a idle issue. thats where i would start compression isnt going to help with that, vacuum leak possibly.

Well I took of my isc and cleaned it very well. Now the car idle at 2k and 1500 with a/c on? ( also it's a clean idle like no bouncing up and down) I can't do a volt meter test today I have to go to work but does that mean it's good, and I see my BISS screw and I can't make if it's been messed with or not and it does not have rubber cap that goes over it is that okay?
