DAMN!

.....I wonder what it would take to get my car that fast

Alot of $$ (LOL)

But your real question should be ( I wonder how I could get my car to be that reliable?)

LOL supra is crazy on the track and a close call with the Red porsche

Leh Keen is a damn good driver. Drives a 997 GT3 cup car in the Rolex Cup races. They've got an evo they're building now, should be a serious monster.

What's funny is that all the TTU c5 z06 driver's got all whiney after he showed up for his first NASA event in that thing and ran the second fastest time out of anything there. I think one open wheeled car beat him that weekend. :D

I race against Rolex and or Grand Am drivers just about every other NASA race. They are literally the cream of the crop of road racers and make what ever they're driving perform to the edge... and beyond!

I was also wondering why he kept skaking the steering wheel so much....

does he have power steering?

RWD with gobs of torque and boost will make for for a serious driving challenge. He's obviously incredibly skilled at what he does.

That vid was great. Makes me want to get out there and do it myself. That driver has a great amount of skill. Now if I could find the time/money to finish the suspension on my car I would love to try some type of curvy racing, I think i would be nervous with other cars on the course though....at first.

I'd be nervous too. I think for guys like us that need to learn the track and have a little wiggle room to screw up, something like a time attack would be better.

I know drag racers (especially those driving Top Fuel) have a tremendous amount of skill to keep 8000 horsepower off the wall, especially when cylinders drop, but there's something to be said for an exceptional all around driver who's able to control big horsepower under varied conditions and really command the car to do what he wants.

Time attack me up! Obviously I am a drag racer but I truly feel i possess the skills to throw down some mean numbers. Being able to control a car well is truly a skill especially at speeds like that. Im up to the challenge...now i need a loan LOL
I guess ill never know though until i get out there.

I like that "wiggle room" Maybe we should meet up somewhere and try it out after i win the lottery.

I could just call it "room for Andy to screw up and not trash his perfectly straight GSX". You hit that lottery and you've got a deal! But seriously, take a look into NASA. Here's some info to get you started:

I'd do it if I could actually drive well. Must be getting old!

P.S. I was incorrect in referring to this as time attack (it's actually time trial). See? Old and not too bright. Helluva bad combination!

Was it just me, or did anyone else feel like they were playing Forza while watching the in-car part of the video? Just for fun, I might try to take a Supra on Road Atlanta in the game and see how I do. :D

He's feathering the steering wheel with slight turns (what you call shaking) while accelerating through the turn. In essence he's redistributing the weight of the car with what might be thought of as a controlled hydroplane on a dry surface, except he's not scrubbing the tires to the point of losing mass rubber. It's especially helpful on long sweepers through the turn, and setting yourself up for the exit of the turn onto an upcoming straight.

If you're to old... then I must be dead ;)

650rwhp and a gob of torque to match on 17" rear hoosier slicks can get a bit tipsy. If you watch he hits 6th gear in a mkiv supra down the back stretch of Road America, he's got a different set of gears in the rear end, but it's still a monster all the same.

When the AMS Evo passed me at Autobahn, it was about as fast as this guy was going. I can't blame the red Porsche for not seeing him, because cars that fast appear out of nowhere. Most faster cars gradually catch up, you can see them coming, and can plan a place to let them by safely. When the Supra or Evo catch up, they are on you in the blink of an eye and go by at light speed. It's like, "Here comes the Evo. I better move over before...(swooosh!)...Holy hockeydooleywock!"

Passed Over Rich

:rocks:

Maaaannnn ... I need to finish my car before the 18th of september ... :(

Kev, you guys in Chicago have SM street tire class as well or do you just personally run SM on street tires?

They have Street Tire class, which I'm in.

Street Tire Street Modified is like a sub-group that's grouped into Street Tire. Dunno about Road Racing, though ... I really need to make it out to the AMS track meet at Autobahn since I haven't seen a lick of track time this season due to my motor eating itself.

We have the same class here in Fort Wayne, that's why I was asking. Chicago could be a fun weekend of autocrossing against good competition. Might be able to make it next year, although I may be on R compounds by then.
