MMCd palm m100 question

Ok, so i got an Ebay cable for logging. Orginally I ordered it for a laptop, since my past posts of not having a serial port and it not working with a USB hookup. I have since bought a Palm OS m100. Well i got MMCd loaded up and seems to be installed correctly. Now I have a Serial hotsync cable that came with the m100 and it wouldn't connect to my Datalogger cable since both ends on the datalogger cable and hotsync cable were female DB9 ports.......

Fastforward to today, I ran to the local computer shop and bought a Male/Male DB9 Gender adapter. Now, here I am excited that it all might work, NOPE! it won't read.

What else do I need ? I read somewhere that I might need a (null modem adapter) ?

Anyone have insight or suggestions ?

hmm ok i did some reading and I read that Steve recommended to others that to switch a PC cable to Palm OS u need a null modem gender connector.

So I ordered this

am I correct or did I waste my money ?

i have the same problem actually...i sent the seller an email and hopefully he will reply soon. I hope the problem is as easy as getting one of those null modem connectors. I saw them at radioshack where I bought the same male/male connector you did. Maybe i can take mine back to get the correct one

Shouldn't be a problem, radio shack is really good about letting you return things if they're the wrong part and you haven't destryed it, so should be as easy as walking in, saying this is the wrong piece, I need that one, and they'll swap it out, and you just pay the difference (or get it back if the null modem is cheaper)

i emailed the ebay seller and he said the cable was made for a PC and not a palm and that it wouldn't work...he said if i send the cable back and $5 he'll give me on for a palm. I think im going to try the other connector first (since im returning the current gender changer anyway) to make sure it won't work

thats not the one i got...although i wish i did. It looks better than mine.

If the cable works, which is a big question with cheap eBay cables, the male to male null modem adaptor from the link above should allow the PC datalogger cable to works with a Palm and it's serial hotsync cable or it's hotsync base.

i bought the null modem connector and it works fine

next step is figuring out why i have 43 counts of knock at low throttle and 2*** rpm
