St. thomas,
I have a 92 talon TSI AWD. 8000 km on a full rebuild and it starts running on cylinders 1 and 4. i have switched the coils and it still does the same thing. There is fuel but no spark at all on 2 and 3. Could it be the square ignition box on the side of the intake or is it more likely the computer?? i dont wanna buy a 200$ ignition box if its not the problem. Any input would be helpful!
thanks

check that coil pack out make sure it hasn't case grounded itself b ohming it out with one on the coil pack probe and the other to the case should read OL if not case grounded.

The Transistor that hooks to the coils is broken into 1-4 and 2-3. If you have a bad one it will do that. I got one off a car in the junk yard for 25$ to test mine but it was not the problem (I still have it if you are interested) I had a engine fire and I had wires melted together which was why mine was firing 1-4 only.
There is a test procedure for that transistor as well - get a haines or chiltons on it.

I am not sure if you have fixed it or not but The Power Transistor Module is dead and you need and new one or one that works. I bought my car for cheap because of this problem when the guy said that car acting up like that I bought without even looking at the rest of the car and boom was The Power Transistor Module its a small black box sits underneath the coil pack. :hellyeah:

I had some thing similar happen a while back and finally pulled the ecu and found one of the capacitors were leaking. so you might check capacitors on the ecu.
