Ok I found a couple of threads that were somewhat similar but, but not quite whats going on with mine..

My car is randomly dropping cylinders?? It will clear up then do it again. It has a check engine light on for a faulty fuel injector, so I just got some new ones, well still no good. It will run fine for a little bit then it will just drop a cylinder and run like crap. I was thinking possible coil pack?? It does not matter what RPM it is at either. :(

I will list my mods let me know if anything seems off..
2 ½ downpipe with full 3inch
MBC 15psi… ish
RC 550’s.. (just installed) it does exactly the same thing with the stock injectors.

ON a side not my car just started hitting fuel cut in first, and only in first?? Only boosting like 15psi??? I have boosted 18-19 before and have not had this problem?:notgood:

Were you able to get the code causing the CEL?

Man sorry I cant think of what it was.. It has had the CEL for a while now.. I was pretty much told its common to have one LOL... I have a logger but it is a PILE and I cannot get it to work correctly!!!

This sux..

My Laser RS has done that twice to me. Once it was just a plug that was dieing, but the second time it was my ecu caps that leaked out and damaged my board. Also you can get your CEL to flash the memory codes by jumpering the #1 to the #12 pins in the diagnostic connector.

On a 1G shorting pin 1 to ground will just hurt. You measure the voltage across those two pins or hook up a low current output device like a 12v LED or piezo buzzer and count the pulses.

It's only notmal to have a CEL when there is a problem. If you fix the problems the CEL will go away. Far too often that problem is actually the ECU failing from leaking capacitors. If yours hasn't been out to have the caps replaced the odds go up to almost 100% over time.

One of the symptoms is random CELs and misfiring due to the ECU crashing and resetting while your driving.

OK I replaced the plugs and reset the ECU. It will only throw a code when it starts to misfire then once it clears up the code goes away ERRRRGGGGG. SO I pulled the ECU. TO see what the CAPs looked like. It looks like they have already been replacedWTF another thing interesting, is when I open it, someone has wrote 92 Trubo on it???????? The case says "E" on it.. but I cannot see where I would pull a chip out... so im kinda confused.. and have come up with nothing to why my car is running like crap.

e stands for eprom i belive and here is where the eprom chip is

was that what you were asking for? And did you check your plugs and wires cus you can mess up the connectors on the wires very easily if you just try to yank them off

Thanks for the pic.. I can say it not a Eprom ECU thats forsure!!! But it has been into before. As for when I changed the plugs no I didnt just yank on them.. As for a coil, could that cause the misfire?? Keep in mind it is not doing it all the time.. just on and off.... I dont want to throw money into the car and not fix it.

Um when you say its just on and off how often is that

Totally random.... It seems to do it whenever it feels like it. I cannot seem to make it do constantly. as for replacing the coil. Would it be worth it to just pick up a COP set up?

I recommend you do a full tune up. Therefore this problem will not happend again, and you will feel alot better about how the car is running:thumb:

Agreed this would get all that little stuff out of the way. and if it is still acting up atleast you have eliminated those options. ya no

deffinatly keep it simple and start with the plugs and wires...
gotta keep all that fresh. bad plugs and wires over time will wear out the coils.

or if you can only excelerate at 15% throtle or less and above that it missfires its possibly your coils.

good luck!
