Metal line next to the timing belt?

Hey all, newbie here. I purchased a 95' Eclipse GS A/T as a winter car for the wife. I have ran into a problem with the metal line next to the timing belt that runs from the front of the motor, over the valve cover and faces towards the fire wall. I purchased the vehicle w/o an engine so I have no idea where the line runs to. The car runs but smells very rich. I have talked with dealers and searched the web and service books; no help. Thanks

ok.. seeing how my motor is sitting in my spare bedroom.... I can't look at the car to tell you for sure. I looked in my Chiltons and I think its a Vac line for the AC. I removed my AC a long time ago, and I don't think I have that anymore.

Where does the firewall side of the line plug into? I cannot find a rubber line or a vacuum hook-up. Thanks

i always thought it was just a metal wire that is holding something in place

Can you take a picture of the rest of the line? I've seen it before, beleive it to be related to emissions (purge solenoid) but do not have one on the 99RS so I need more pics.
